CBISKIT, as a fellow tonic water and energy drink connoisseur, I love the SodaStream versions. The energy drink tastes basically exactly like Red Bull, and the tonic water is not just acceptable, it's actually pretty darn good. I don't drink diet tonic, so your mileage may vary there, but the regular is definitely tasty. The best part of having a SodaStream for me is having tonic water whenever I need/want it, since I often am not very good at estimating how much I'll want when I'm shopping.

We always put Pandora on with some quiet jazz. It's probably the least offensive music I can think of (in that nobody I've met really *hates* jazz the same way they might hate another genre), and it's a little more fun and party atmosphere than classical would be.

I just turn the radio on NPR so my dog can hear quiet, talking voices while I'm gone. It doesn't use much energy and it gives her something to listen to.

I use two vacuums - a Neato Robotics XV-11 for the majority of the floor, and an Electrolux Ergorapido stick for the edges. Basically, I run the XV-11 2x-3x or so a week and run around the edges with the Ergorapido 1x a week (The XV-11 doesn't really get the edges very well because of the paneling on my walls).

I have a sheltie/corgi mix that sheds everywhere, and the XV-11 is the only robot vacuum I've seen that can handle her fluff volume.
