Have it reupholstered, the vinyl is weak and cracking after 40+ years. Trying to save it will not stave off more cracks and breaks soon, and will be irritatingly obvious. We can reupholster it, and you will have your peace and enjoy a fine chair. So what if is not worth what it should be, any chair will cost you to reupholster.You could send us the seat without base, call Peter at Olek at 212-243-3363 for quote. Eames had a brilliant marketing idea with Shock Mounts and thin plywood shells 70 years or so ago. It doesn't look so brilliant now, with all the maintenance issues. Herman Miller only warranteed the DCM, LCM, DCW, LCW and Lounge 670 chairs for 3 years, everything else was 15 years. Even when they started making them, they knew the problems.
