Oh.Boy.

You mean people actually do that? ... It's my least favorite task - I don't even iron my clothes (except dress shirts) I will use the dryer and then hang or fold as soon as laundry is done. For dress pants, I don't put them in the dryer, I take them out wet from the washing machine, smooth them over with my hand, and then hang from the bottom of the pant so the weight does away with the wrinkles.

I do like clean laundered sheets, but I don't even know what ironed sheets would feel like...!

Love the kitchen, nice bright color...

However....the wine bottles have a whole tree... and what seems to be like all the coats of the entire house, have only one overloaded hook? Just saying... ;) Maybe if you put a couple hooks under teh brown frame, over where the shoes are by the patio door...?

Pot rack is really great and functional, not too much in the way like other pot racks!

I was going to suggest turmeric as well :)

You could ask your doctor for recommendations (it's really not the same case here, but I was surprise to hear the dentist say to my boyfriend, post-bad-bad tooth infection that led to a root canal, to eat a lot of (healthy) fats).

I wish you prompt healing and all the best.

When I'm hosting a brunch I always cook bacon and sausages in the oven, the evening before my brunch. You then put them in 2 containers lined with paper towels and put them in the fridge overnight. You then can make your oven omelet (I do oven french toasts) in the oven in the morning, when everything is ready and I don't need my oven to cook anymore, I reheat everything in the oven. If the oven is too crowded, I reheat my bacon in the microwave (not too long!).

I find that you can really cook anything you want for a crowd - it's all about timing.

Peameal bacon is not an unusual ingredient in Quebec , Opendestiny and La Grenouille. At least in the grocery stores where I live :) They don't necessarly put it where the butcher`s counter is but where they keep the more processed hotdogs, bologna and hams.

Elephant ears? First time I hear that, it's kinda cute! Nom, nom beavertails... Apparently there is a portuguese recipe that's just like beavertail... now if I could only remember the name...!

I have 2 more spots (if appliances are left behind, which is the case for renters in my region (Gatineau-Ottawa)): behind/under the fridge and under the stove. God knows what lurks under there *shudders*

The texture of the peameal bacon (we also call it back bacon) is a bit different than the slice of Canadian ham, but who cares, they are both delicious :)

Currently, it's the Sugar Shack (Cabane à sucre) time in Canada and owners of sugar shacks are cooking ham and sausages (along with about anything else!) with a touch of maple syrup. The salty-sweet combo is so yummy!

And muddymudskipper needs to explain himself/herself (or go back into the thick, thick mud he/she comes from).

Cheesewhiz. I used to put it on toasts in the morning or eat it in a sanwish with 2 slices of completly processed sugar-laden white bread.

I can't even look at the thing anymore.

Although, I still enjoy Kraft Diner with little pieces of hotdogs cut in it... I have no shame :-/

ooohhhh... They are so beautiful... I like the execution of the last sink, the way the counter overlaps just a tad... very practical. I'm not sure you could get the same delicate edge with stone :-/

It's very nice!

However, I'd probably do the turtle (back on the floor, legs and arms waving around) a few times because of these stairs O.o

Can't be in a rush, that's for sure!

Thanks ! I just find that the vanilla added an interesting dimension, where sugar would just make it "sweeter" (I hear you Dangab33!). The vanilla + oranges + pineapple was especially yummy!

I'm French Canadian (Quebec) and in my region, we refer it as 'liqueur' (liquor!). I don't know why, but you can imagine English-speaking folk's surprise when they ask the 10 years old girl, who barely speaks English, what she wants to drink and she replies, in a strong accent, "a liquor please!"...

Now that my English is better, I call it pop. I also hear soft drink as well.

Love these types of posts.

Bill Bryson in his recent book "Home" talks about how in the XXth century (I'm sorry I can't remember :-/) when wealthy people would leave their house for a long period of time (months) would have the valuable windows taken down and stored away until their return. It's pretty funny to imagine :)

Keltrue - I do that too - the most efficient cooking in order not to have as many dishes to wash :)

I prefer to clean as I go and my boyfriend ... well... total opposit doesn't cover it. Everything that he needs stays on the counter, including dirty spoons covered in batter (honey, there is a spoon rest for this particular reason!!) open canisters, empty cans, chopped herbs. Then there is only a tiny bit of the counter space left to chop... arg >.< drives me nuts! So when he cooks, I just silently clean as he goes - because I can't stand it - and we get to spend some time together.

Oooh. It looks beautiful, especialy the "colour" of the water. However, if I lived there, I'd have to clean it all the time (well, if you lived there, you'd probably have maids!) and check it all the time for leaks and what not.

My mother painted her en-suite bathroom a muddy red and she has dark floors and dark counter top and if I lived there I just feel I wouldn't be able to relax. For one, I tend to prefer cold colors and do enjoy white in a bathroom.
