Instead of purchasing a new bed, I used this storage boxspring/base from Ikea. Fits perfectly under my king bed and holds an enormous amount of stuff. I purchased the euro version and a euro chip about 3 years ago. The door works fairly well for my large male. Raccoons were still able to push their way through the door lock. I have moved the cat-door to a window about 5 feet off the ground and built a small perch for my cat to jump to. Strange, but raccoons can't jump. No more raccoons in the house.
