@ buyersremorse: Yeah, the windows open in, which makes mounting something in the recess super awkward. I might try a tension rod!?

@ hejiranyc & buyersremorse: Thanks for the fabric tips! I'd thought about maybe something Marimekko, but both your recommendations are totally up my street and really beautiful.

@ coltensmom: I think you're right, a pattern on a light or white background seems to be the way to go.
