Yes, Ghirardelli all the way! They have my favorite chocolate chip recipe as well!

I totally agree with you on the magazine tear-sheet project. I've almost completely finished going through my food magazines - it's taken me about a year. After I've finished (hopefully in the next couple of weeks!) I'll go back and review the sheet that I too have complied into recipe binders in protective plastic sheets! Thanks for the added inspiration and motivation to finish and start cooking from them!

Just read the article in The Atlantic on Bon Appetit with their new take on anti-cruelty policies they will implement by 2015. Great article and it's so nice to see such a large company standing up for what is right in the food world. Hopefully this influences other food service companies, small and large, to do the right thing as well!

Yes. I too have never found a more comfortable pair of shoes to wear while in the kitchen for long stretches of time. I have a black pair, but I'm looking around for some more cheery colors for spring/summer!

This is so funny - I just make huge batch of freshly cooked chickpeas yesterday! They really do taste much better than their canned variety, and they're much cheaper as well. Who can't pass that up? I keep a weeks worth for use in the fridge, and I put the rest into small freezer bags for later use in the freezer. Keep some of the liquid in both the fresh and frozen variations so they stay fresh longer - especially once the frozen ones are thawed.

This is my winter drink of choice, and it always seems to take the edge off of a bad cold. I will definitely be making a Hot Toddy this evening as I watch the snow pile up here in Chicago!

My aunt suggested making polenta this way as the stovetop method takes much longer. This only confirms that I should make it this way next time. Thanks!

I never thought of making soup from wild rice! Seems very hearty, especially in this weather we've been having!
