At the very least, if you're not going to use them, can you put them on the curb for someone else to pick up? IME, here anyway, if you put something on the curb, it will get picked up by someone who wants it. :) Reuse Ideas for 5-Gallon Water Jugs? Good Questions |

Probably the best piece of advice I received in regards to our registry is to register for at least one thing from each area in the store- for instance, my instinct would be to ignore the crystal section, it's totally not my style. But my Aunt told me I should anyway because people tend to settle on one type of thing that they always buy for wedding gifts (my Mom gives knives for example) and if you don't have something in that area, they will go out and buy it anyway, but you won't be able to return it easily. And let me tell you that returning things on our registry was a million times easier than the things that weren't! Wedding Wish List: What's Your Best Registry Advice? |

Eugene OR- We did pay $1100 for a house once- but it was a huge house and electricity was included. In general, for houses or duplexes, I would not pay more than $900 for 3bd 2ba. And it would have to be an awesome duplex or a so-so house for that. Before we moved into this house that we bought, we were living in a very cute tiny tiny house and were paying $750. They're not for everyone, but we love our futon. We bought a really nice wooden frame and then the cover is washable and if it's really bad, we can replace the pad. Or use some of those foam egg carton pads to cover it up (plus the cover over that too...) Furnishing the Family Room: How Did Kids Alter Your Choices? |

I don't follow trends for the most part. I mean, if I like something and it fits in our house, I'll do it, whether its a trendy thing or not. More than likely though the trend will be long gone before I get around to doing it. But my home is about being comfortable and being attractive to me, so trends don't make a difference to me.
