My fiance and I are moving into a house together when we get married in June, so I've been sorting through my possessions a little at a time. Things getting tossed or donated are shoes that never fit well, most of those "free" event t-shirts because I find crew necks uncomfortable and avoid them, gifts I received and kept with the intention of regifting... but could never find the right person, books I do not care about, clothes that have lost their shape, etc. Basically, I'm using the move and household combining to get rid of things I should have let go a long time ago. I don't change hanging wall art often because my collection is meticulously curated and arranged (read: I'm picky and perfectionistic), but sometimes I change the framed art that I have leaning on various shelves. The changes happen more whenever I get the urge than seasonally, though. Do You Change Art Seasonally? Reader Survey |

My mom gets rid of fruit flies by pouring a little apple cider vinegar into a tall cup and resting a funnel in the top of the cup that covers all but a small part of the opening. Fruit flies are especially attracted to the vinegar and usually can't get out of the bottle, so they drown. An Eco Friendly, Safe Way to Repel Flies |

I just started using Postagram to send photos to my grandparents of my new nephew (their great-grandson). They don't use computers, so this is a fun way to send cards and photos of daily life and happenings. Tis the Season: Create Holiday Cards on Your Tablet Tablet App Recommendations |

I travel 1-2 weekends a month, so I keep a packing list on my smart phone and check things off as I lay them out on the bed. I usually don't lay anything out until the day before I leave (starting with night-time toiletries so I'm sure I don't forget anything). Pre-Travel Pile: Do You Make One? |

When I bought my current sofa, I chose "celery" green (it actually looks a tad more blue than a celery stalk) and painted the living room a pale lavender. Other accents in the room are deep reds, dark greens, and several shades of natural wood. I love the room and spend lots of time in it! Paint Color Recommendations with Green Sofa? Good Questions |

I tried Swackett for the fun design but favor the concise, plentiful data I get from WeatherBug. Also, I'm not sure I want to see Swackett for my area right now... I went to KC last week for a mini-vacation with my boyfriend. I've been there more than he has, but neither of us had been there in a while. My not-to-miss list includes:

I confess the whole reason I clicked on this post was to see if other readers found the lead photo as creepy as I do. The position of the toy makes it look like he's been skinned and mounted... Creature Comforts: Framing Childhood Lovies |

Is there storage in the bathroom that is not shown in the photos? I like the creative use of limited space, just curious about where the toiletries go. Michelle's Traditional + Fashion Forward House Tour |

This looks like great fun! My mom has said for years that she wants to host "Cousin Camp at Gram's" when she has grandchildren who are old enough. (She'll have to wait a while, though. The first one isn't due until October!) Start a Neighborhood Summer Camp |

My parents recently purchased a Cuisinart single-serve coffee maker and I think the coffee it makes is not worth even the minimal effort required. When I visit, I use it to dispense "instantly" hot water that I use to make my coffee in an Aeropress. Aeropress is by far my favorite way to make coffee because it is simple, portable, and produces a strong (but not bitter) cup of coffee. The waste is also minimal because there is just a small biodegradable paper filter that can be rinsed and reused multiple times (I keep them an average of two weeks, making multiple cups per day). I take credit for getting both of my brothers hooked on coffee by letting them try my Aeropress. $51 Per Pound: The Deceptive Cost of Single-Serve Coffee The New York Times |
