@LEPIDOPTERY - I understand your point, but why couldn't both survive? To me, it smacks of a cold-hearted business decision, and not a decision based on what the customers (i.e. readers) want. Gone is the cute, whimsical, folksy, hand-made feel of AT and say hello to the corporate brand. I understand that this is now a real business, It sucks when you lose a friend.

@PLEIOVN - Sometimes the nicest thing you can say to someone is that they're doing something wrong.

Average price of your "scavenger" items is $1,185. Doesn't sound much like a scavenger hunt to me. Seems more like high priced dealers paying to list stuff on your site.

Quit trying to fix stuff that isn't broken. Bring back the old scavenger.

Lastly - if you don't like negative comments, why do you bother allowing comments? I am sure you will delete this, like you have deleted other posts that are critical of your site.

@Rumagogo and @BrooklynJennie - If they treat the old Daily Scavenger like they did the redesign, your complaints will fall on deaf ears. They erased my posts from the first "new" scavenger link the other day because it was negative. I miss the old scavenger too.

@CittyKitty - Agreed. Daily Scavenger is the main reason I stop by everyday.

@TAO_GENEVA I agree. I think if you're going to do something to modernize a piece (i.e. stained and painted, which I think is a fairly modern take) then Shabbi-fying the paint seems out of context.

A smooth paint job in gold, blue, sage or something that would compliment and existing color scheme would be very interesting.

Regardless, nice work and a very nice piece of furniture has been saved.

.PS AT - can we have more of these projects please??? KTHXBAI

I like the wood, not so much the dusty blue on the sides. The drawers look ok.

Oh, and it's about time you had a before/after piece AT. You've been seriously lacking these of late.

Ugh... cut and paste that into your browser. Or search for "Midwest Mar 21, 2012" and then you'll find it.

Good luck

The big round fail stamp is "fail". Makes it too hard to see your project.

That aside, those hardware store bought legs and mounts generally don't work too well.

DIY Dilemma: When Home Projects Fail

So earlier today I took a look to see if things had changed back. No such luck.

Anyway, last thing I saw was Adrianna & Paul's house tour. That was around 1PM PST iirc, but might have been a little later. Jen & Nate's was there too.

Now, magically, there are hairy homes, Chinese people, and wet cell phones, all of which weren't there earlier this afternoon, but now are magically inserted within the timeline.

I don't know why I bother with you people when you don't listen, but this sucks. I've been coming here more recently, a lot like a rubber-necker watching a car crash. I am hoping you'll get it through your heads, but you likely won't. Its a shame really. You HAD something special. Now you're just like all the rest.

Art doesn't chase dollars. It's the other way around.

Much like the website redesign, I prefer the old version.

Hate it. Period.

When you built this, and it grew organically, you put things where you thought that they made sense. And guess what, it did.

Now you've paid some know-nothings to "re-organize" your site, and have totally screwed it up. I truly hope that your traffic logs show usage way down and that you'll have the courage to share those statistics.

Gawker pushed out similar stupid changes a while back and some of their sites have never recovered.

Really like your content, been visiting daily, but this sucks.
