I love za'atar and I'm actually headed to the Middle East in a few weeks. Can't wait to get my fill! In the meantime, I'm going to try making my own blend. Thanks!

Spice Up Your Cooking With Za'atar: 9 Recipes to Make Now

I just started someone new and he's coming over tonight. We're going to cook together, so I wanted to keep it simple but elegant. I'm thinking risotto (you guys have some great spring risotto recipes I'm going to try, perhaps with ramps or fiddleheads), kale salad, and strawberry rhubarb pie for dessert. Some wine, good music, I think it promises to be a good evening. I appreciate any additional suggestions or recipes!

What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of April 20-21, 2013

I've eaten at Dirt Candy and lot of these recipes are straight from the menu. I can testify that they are DELICIOUS. What's great about the cookbook is that Amanda breaks down each recipe into parts, so you could just choose to make a basic soup with none of the complicated components for a weeknight, and then do all the "fixings" for a weeknight when you have more time/want to try out some new skills.

Plus the comics are really entertaining!

This is going to need to wait until the weekend because this is going to be a MAJOR task for me (I also need to fix my medicine cabinet since two of the shelves have fallen out).

This looks delicious, although I might eliminate the yogurt to be vegan!

I realized how dusty I had allowed my bedroom to get. I have a ton of dark wood molding, so the dust wasn't that noticeable until I got up close and personal. Ew! I must have breathing in gross dust all the time! Unfortunately, I realized that my vacuum bag was full and didn't have any extras, so I had to order a bunch and rush them. They should arrive tomorrow or Tuesday, so I'll have to wait to do the deep vacuum until then. In the meantime, getting rid of the clutter was much needed. It got me thinking about how I want to restyle the room (including curtains, this is a sore spot for me, since I've been using sheets to cover my windows since I moved in....I can't even talk about it, I'm so embarassed). I also was thinking about getting some new bedding. I really need some new sheets and my duvet and comforter are looking a little worn out. The other HUGE task this weekend was FINALLY getting rid of a ton of old clothing. I've been meaning to do this forever. Now I just need to sort through the two big boxes, decide what needs to be cleaned, what should be tossed, and what should be donated. I already am feeling a little lighter.

Last week I forgot to buy flowers, so this week I bought double to have in both my bedroom and my living room. They make me so happy! Feeling really good!

Loving the Boston features! I moved to Boston less than a year ago and I'm always on the lookout for things to do/see/shop/and eat!

@tryphe same here!!! I think all of us who saw that movie and enjoyed reading wanted one of those libraries. Right now, I struggle with a lack of bookshelves, but it's on my big list that I crafted for the Cure. I think I'll satisfy myself with tossing old magazines and organizing my DVDs and the BF's video games.

My big project for the Cure is to finally get rid of all my boxes--tonight, I'm going to sort through two boxes in my office aka disaster zone and decide what to donate, toss, and keep. If I'm keeping it (and I promise myself I'm going to be brutal), I need to find a good home for it, otherwise it goes too.

Thank you for posting this. My kitchen looks nothing like the sleek, glamorous, well-decorated, brand new kitchens AT frequently posts. It's so refreshing to see a kitchen that is well loved and looks a lot like mine.

This was so good for me. Not only does my kitchen feel great, but my pantry and fridge look AMAZING. Finally went out and bought a bunch of glass containers to store all my grains/beans, etc. I cannot wait to tackle the other rooms in my apartment!

Just got a Vitamix, so I'm going to be using a lot of my root veggies from my CSA to make some pureed soup. I'm thinking definitely acorn squash, but I also have a lot of kohlrabi. Might try and find a good recipe for kolhrabi soup.

Since I'm in grad school (and working), I have a feeling that in order to be ready to have people over, I'll need to do the Cure 2x, once in January and again in February. But I think I might finally get my act together and host an Oscars party w/ cocktails and appetizers!

I was just with my parents who live in Phoenix, as we were just talking about how we hadn't heard that they'd found a buyer and we were concerned. Great news!

Day 3: Weekend Chores - Flowers, Floors, Green Cleaners & Outbox Apartment Therapy January Cure - Day 3

I don't have any major resolutions other than I want to be better about cooking during the week--ever since I started grad school, I've been half-assing my meals, either just eating PB+J, ordering in, or microwaving stuff. Sometimes I'll have too much produce (I get weekly deliveries from local famrs) that I just end up roasting a whole ton of veggies and subsisting on that for a few days. I'm looking to TheKitchn to provide me with some easy, healthy, vegetarian meals that I can make quickly, while still reigniting my love for cooking.

Setting Kitchen Goals in 2013

I actually ended up baking quite a few TheKitchn recipes, including the eggnog cake mentioned above, the vegan sticky orange cake w/ marmalade glaze, and the best of all, the quick hazelnut and olive oil cookies with lemon glaze. YUM. We also made seitan cutlets based on a PPK recipe for seitan roast that we tried over thanksgiving. We also made some mushroom ragu over polenta, lots of salads, vegetarian chili, and homemade biscuits, among others. Best of all, we did all of this cooking together with family, including my mom and younger brother. Such good times!
