I was failed by the Cuisinart and in a spirit of OhWellWhatTheHell got the el cheapo Black and Decker no frills one with a timer... ACE. I have no kitchen... artists loft, you know the drill,,, two hotplates (Best Chef, again the el cheapo one is the best!) And to my surprise, I was gifted with one of those turkey roasters (Hamilton Beach) by my brother who had discovered its greatness ina Thanksgiving emergency, than which nothing could feel tinnier, and it works GREAT too.
Go figger.

In NYC it was pretty simple. As a renter, I was able to give a party in my own home without worrying about the nutcase on the board.

The coward's way: I buy celery sticks. the hero's way: make stock, any kind and freeze... that'll use up the bunch (but there again easy to put too much in. Or chop onion carrot and the celery into a mirepoix and freeze in bags. Alwaysuseful. Or braise celery, changes the game completely, lovely dish I wish I could claim I remember to make when i have too much of the stuff.

chinese barbecue from a great chinese barbecue place, not only duck and pork but tea poached chicken... LOVELY cold, already in pieces... a watermelon and tomato salad with some crumbled feta in a vinaigrette.... and this standby, can of tuna in oil (drained) can of white beans (drained and rinsed if you like), some white onion shaved thin to taste and some pitted black olives, toss with a basic vinaigrette (salt pepper one part apple cider vinegar and three parts olive oil) sprinkle with cayenne... keeps great, also lovely put on some good hot toasted bread (which kind of takes the edge off the cold spread)... some prosciutto with great peaches (very old school and as nice as with melon)

I have the Eames rocker and it is so light and easy to move it is the piece I would consider as the one to push around to get into the closet. Is there space to the right of the bathroom door as you look at it for the bookcase? The big table is so smart in a small space... it actually works as its own room. Great little place. It's delightful already. Never been a fan of sofa backs (just a quirk of mine)

see what you can lose: stuff you don't like, never liked can never like give it away/sell... really edit everything in every room as if you were going to move and wanted to start fresh with only the things you love. furniture sheets boxes of papers curtains old toys clothes etc etc

then one wild weekend, empty each room and then repopulate it using the things you like (from any room) that you are keeping that can be from any room and move it around until you have a fresh solution... leave holes when you come up short with something... you'll discover what you need...
whatever you do don't throw money at the problem and don't be in a hurry to finish. this is gonna be fun.
