I think this looks great. I also think a naked incandescent bulb can absolutely be an attractive way to light a room. In a low wattage, it can put off a nice glow. It's not going to "light up the room," but I doubt this is the goal with this piece. It can make a nice accent.

Also, haters gonna hate. The anonymity of the internet, whatcha gonna do.

Love this apartment! Great vintage finds, you really manage to use vintage pieces in a modern way. Not to add to this whole "personalization" nonsense (relax guys) but I don't see that initial comment as an insult at all. I tend to agree, and still think the place is amazing. I love AT because how how realistically imperfect most of the tours are. So I suppose I agree with the possible mis-categorization into "house tours" that was mentioned. Maybe give it a different category and people will view with a different perspective.

Also, relax you guys. And be nice. Geez.

Beautiful apartment! The Mission is a great neighborhood that still gets a bad rap, unfortunately. It's either too dangerous or to "hipstery." I live in the Tenderloin in SF and am always defending my neighborhood.

Regardless, job well done on mixing various architectural and design elements. Many of us in SF share the same delightful challenge.

I would avoid leather all together. Fabric with a modern pattern could be nice, or if you want to contrast with something slim and sleek, go with something that uses wood or metal elements. If you're wanting to use accessories to tie the couch with the rest of the room, maybe use a throw as opposed to pillows to give it a nice clean line. Comfort goes a long way! There's plenty of furniture out there I love but wouldn't want to spend more than 15 minutes on. :)
