to my chagrin, this kind of pastel awfulness is actually pretty popular among middle class midwestern suburban women, see stanley's costal living or lexinton's long cove or any other mid-level furniture company's current line of 'cottage-y' fake shabby chic beach fake french country nonsense. This is what is under the face of most all mass-market furniture, even so-called "fine" furniture. I recently saw a crunched drawer from a Thomasville 'Fredericksburg' desk, that is, a $2200 desk, and beneath the surface mahogany face veneer was the mdf, which had the shockingly crappy feel of slightly compressed corrugated cardboard. Fanciness is very often just a simulation, but would you rather have a $2200 desk or a $7000 desk??? Personally, I guess I'd rather have neither- WTF is MDF? Regarding photos: My digital camera only seems to have a field of vision of about 45 degrees, so it is rather difficult to maintain a sense of context because the small size space does not permit standing far enough away to show the necessary wide field of vision. When only 5 photos are allowed, this is what you get. This actually isn't a bad overview of the space, what you are missing is another small seating arrangement down from the LCM, the bookshelf to the left (front facing) of the daybed, my closets, and the kitchen. The shot of the stereo shows the u-shape of the whole apartment. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Small Cool 2009: M.Cole's Controlled Collecting Tiny Division #15#comments |

Thank you for using the right word, wannabe minimalist. I realized that my responses to Apartmenttherapy's questions might sound pretentious when I was writing them, but I decided to just go ahead and say what I thought(think). I still feel that my responses are wholly appropriate, and too truthful to actually be pretentious. My opinions are supplied to convey the identity of my space, and it is perfectly fine if these ideas aren't agreed upon by their entire audience. This is a forum for declarations, mine and yours, and I will make no apologies, so judge me as you will. After all, if I feared your judgement, my apartment would look completely different, and it wouldn't be posted here. Thank you everyone who has bothered to vote and comment!
