I live alone as a post-grad student, and NONE of my undergrad mates seem to get why I enjoy living on my own.

I think the greatest pleasure is being able to tidy/rearrange as I see fit WHEN I see fit, as well as leaving books and all sorts about (in the kitchen, in the bathroom) to read when I feel like it.

That said, I often lack the motivation to tidy up or clear anything away (typical mid twenties male behaviour, I know), so having regular house guests has become a way to keep the place tidy to the point where my girlfriend has gained the illusion that I am a tidy individual. And an obvious downside is that my lease clearly states no pets, so I can't have the welsh terrier companion I crave after years of living with an asthmatic mother and sister!

I live in a rental (studio flat) of a little over 130 square feet due to limited housing for those of us who like to live alone in a small university town, and it can be restrictive. My main issue is that it came furnished so I can't get rid of most of the furniture that came with the flat, despite not needing all of it, however I wish I could pare it down! It's busy to the point that re-arranging is almost impossible (probably my fault for buying a 6ft sofa bed, even though I can't get rid of the bed that came supplied...)

I'm not sure if I could cope with 100 square ft, but if I can adapt to 130, I'm sure it wouldn't be that much of a jump, although as a History student, I do need a substantial amount of shelving space, I guess. I LOVE the ladder bed, having had something similar as a child!

Firstly, at least in the UK owning copies of media which you don't own (even if you did own it at one point) is definitely at the illegal end of the very gray area of 'fair use'.

Secondly, I own 0 blu-ray titles, and when I do buy, I tend to stick to plain old DVD, since I don't have the luxury of being able to afford a full 1080p telly (the joys of post-grad life!)

Generally, I tend to rent rather than buy as most movies i won't watch more than once anyway, I have found that's a much more effeicient way of de-cluttering (for a small monthly fee to lovefilm, of course).
