it's worth noting that while the dye is probably safe vegetable-based, the wood could potentially be leftover cca-treated lumber that got shredded dyed. That means the arsenic levels in your soil could skyrocket. There is probably not too much of this going on as CCA has been off the market for a number of years, but if you were going to try to pass off old CCA lumber or other suspect materials as mulch, the dye would be a perfect way to camouflage it. Pink slime is actually grey, until they dye it all red to match... Why, Oh, Why The Orange Mulch? |

it's reflecting red light back up at the plants, which primarily need deep-Red and UV light. Preferably, the mulch would also fluoresce under a UV light, which a lot of synthetic dyes do. The dye is almost always harmless vegetable-based - the idea is that it organically fades quickly, encouraging homeowners to frequently order more fresh brightly-colored mulch! A lot of people have a strong positive psychological response to red tones. For ex. a man will be rated as stronger if he wears a red shirt, and a woman more attractive, than any other color. get a survey ASAP., as you clearly have different ideas about where the line is, you need to settle that as quickly as possible. As for what to put, give him a list of options/ideas, and let him decide what options he likes best, so you can make a mutual decision. Don't let it be a unilateral decision, because that feels too possessive for a boundary marker. How To Separate Merged Front Yards? Good Questions |

if you want to give corrugated metal that weathered look, clean it with XYLENE, then For every 5 tablespoons of Urine, pour twice that amount of hydrogen peroxide into the spray bottle. You now have your magic solution. Yes, that's right, urine. Spray your magic solution generously onto the metal, let dry, repeat, let dry, repeat, etc... until you get the amount of rust you are looking for. When you get the amount of rust you are looking for, clean it off, dry, then spray it with lacquer. Two coats. DIY Urban Planter Box Plans Fresh Home Ideas |

I don't think mosaics make much sense as a back splash. too much grout to clean off all that splash, i mean if you actually cook. And I know grout lines really drive people crazy cleaning tile counter tops. I do think mosaics give nice grip for your feet say small hex marble mosaic in the bathroom floor. A large smooth tile can be very very slippery, but makes for easy cleaning. Tile Trends: Two Extremes |

I wanted a knife set,and found out NOBODY wants to be the one to buy newlyweds knifes, apparently this is bad luck. At least that is what I was told by so many people. What everyone did want to get us was glassware sets, mixing bowl sets, towel and tablecloth sets. Wood salad bowl / utensil set. Pizza stone I got ended up getting lots of use. Best thing I ever got for my kitchen was the full Wusthof Classic Knives set w/ 15 slot block, but we had to convince one rich aunt to get it for us - nobody is going to buy individual knives. Pick out a nice set of plates and flatware from crate and barrel or something and set up the registry at one store. Look up a Stainless Steel Flatware Grades Guide, because you could still be using the same flatware 50 years from now, if everything goes well. Wedding Wish List: What's Your Best Registry Advice? |

Plexus "Plastic Cleaner, Protectant And Polish" is a really amazing product for protecting clear and shiny plastic.... leaves an anti-static, anti-fog finish that resists fingerprints. 303 "Aerospace Protectant" is great for protecting vinyl and rubber stuff that's going to be out in the sun&heat...think rubber seals, tires, vinyl trim and cases. Novus makes a multi-step plastic polish kit w/ scratch removers and shine/wax formula. For glass, Eastwood company makes kits that will polish scratches out of glass with a random orbit buffer, as well as kits for restoring old plastic. Touch Screens: Cleaning Dos and Don'ts |

I say use the laundromat once every couple weeks, and separate all your clothes by color, that way you can do as may washes at once as you need to. Saves time overall vs. doing each wash one after the other. Also, add TSP to your laundry detergent, the clothes will be way cleaner if you add phosphates back in - ditto for dish washer. Actually I've never had a dishwasher, I just do it by hand. And really if you can put up a clothes line you don't need a dryer either. buy a thermometer to put in the fridge and freezer, if they are still cold enough you don't need a new one, and if it isn't consider it might just need the refridgerant recharged or a new seal around the door. Consider the landlord could cover the cost of a repair man maintaining the appliances that were supplied. Pros & Cons: Replacing Appliances in a Rental Renters Solutions |

FWI the key ingredient in dishwasher detergents for spotless dishes is TSP (Trisodium phosphate). However in July 2010 many states banned tsp from the dishwasher detergents, because it causes alge blooms which kills fish when the alge uses up all the oxygen. Most of the manufacturers have banned it on their own in most other states because it was just cheaper to make it one way. This change happened very quietly with little to no publicity. The result is that none of the dishwasher detergents actually work very well anymore like they used to. Homemade Cleaners Toolkit: 5 Essentials to Make Your Own |

also try 20 Mule Team Borax (a salt of boric acid), or TSP (Trisodium phosphate) - very effective! instead of water, try Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). a pinch of salt often makes the cleaner more effective. Homemade Cleaners Toolkit: 5 Essentials to Make Your Own |
