CUTE! This is a GREAT example of someone who has great use of color. I hardly notice the white walls. I sure hope you make it past this round, because I really want to see your bathroom and kitchen. The furniture is lovely, and you've broken up the nicely. I guess living in 391 sq. feet really makes a person live with the bare essentials... So, I am interested to know where you keep your hobbies? Just the shelving in the living room area?

It almost looks like you have too much space. Having the open space is nice, but I'm having a hard time understanding your challenge with living in a small space. I also see that you enjoy entertaining, so maybe being able to have lots of people over at once is important to you, and therefore you NEED the wide open space. I would try adding some additional artwork to the walls to bring the space more together, not to make it feel smaller, but to pull together some of the loose ends that contribute to its vast feel.

You must really like your bed since you honored it with two photos...
One positive thing that caught my eye was that your furniture appears to be within scale to your apartment. It looks cozy. But golly gosh, I really wonder where all your stuff is stored.

It's difficult to believe your space is only 441 sq. feet. I voted cool, because while that's a pretty impressive accomplishment and obviously a great arrangement of furniture, I feel like it's lacking something. It's very monochromatic, and maybe that's not just my personal taste, but I find it to be very similar to every other post as a result. I guess I am just really interested to know where people put their stuff, in addition to having a decent layout of furniture.

It's a great use of a small space as far as furniture arrangement is concerned. I agree with some of the above commenters about it being too "Ikea-y" but I feel like that's an personal taste and not what this contest is about (I also understand being 22 and on a budget).

Your use of color is lovely- the little splashes everywhere make it unnecessary for you to paint your walls. It works well because the colors are cohesive, rather than having every color in the rainbow represented everywhere.

I like your stuff. It's interesting. I think some smaller living room furniture would better suit your space. I'm drooling over your wall of shelving with the books and records on it. Your floorplan, rather than your photos, showcases your small space.
I voted voted "cool"; however, if I hear the word "eclectic" one more time I'm going to scream! I didn't think people could describe their own tastes as eclectic...

How is this entry organic? I was expecting to see some plants and natural looking items. Like Art Nouveau...
I am pleased to see your shelving with books and trinkets (I like trinkets). I am not a fan of the pillows, but they fit with your shelving; however, I am wondering where the rest of your personal style is reflected.

I voted cool because while I enjoy looking at your photos, there aren't many shots showing rooms and dealing with living in a small space. I am excluding the kitchen area when I say this.
Everything looks beautiful. Was there a reason for choosing all white accents? The lemons in the kitchen add a lot of visual balance to your space. I think replacing some of the white flowers with red would have added more depth.
I love your bath tub. Your space has a lot of victorian charm. I would love to see your space-saving adaptations though.

I like that you put scenic pictures in your bedroom to help open up the space. I would make the "views" larger and add a pseudo window sill, with some curtains. Having night scenes may even help; that would disguise the lack of natural sunlight.
I like your kitchen, I wish I could see more of the storage area.
Small Space Contest aside, aesthetically something is bothersome about your living room. I would try playing with the wall color, or switching out some of the huge black furniture pieces. The rug seems to be your focal point, so find a way to blend it into the space.

None of the photos reflect living in a small space. If the contest was based on arranging furniture nicely, then sure, I'd have voted "cool" or even "super cool". I see the typical furniture and lack of character just like most of the other entries this year. Where's the small challenge factor?

Your space looks lived in and well thought out. It's obvious you are dealing with a small space, and you've pulled it off well. It has character and isn't a hospital room. Your apartment is much more than a pretty "face" and actually deals with small space coping mechanisms. The clutter is balanced and indicative of your space contraints. I don't find it distracting one bit... some people need a bit of clutter (I am guilty of that).

Your apartment is beautiful and well-balanced. It looks tidy but lived-in. I am not a big fan of baskets; however, they work nicely in your apartment. I'm also not a fan of the white bucket-looking thing next to your couch--is it a trash can? I am curious about what your interests are: reading, sewing, watching movies? I can't find anything to reflect your personality in your space.

I am drawn to your post because of the plants, art, and cat. :-) It looks like you actually live in your space, and have hobbies that involve more than watching the telly and cruising for modernist furniture.
The furniture looks thought out in regard to the space it's in. I do wish the tv tray looking table were substituted with something else.
I really love your kitchen, especially the slanted wall with the window, and the pink piano light above the sink. Your dishes add to character to that room. Your home is very personalized, as a space should be; try not to unify it too much.

This is the Christina half of this entry...

Thank you for all the constructive criticism. I can see why people would think our place is cluttered, especially by comparison to the other entries so far.

DahliaCactus, I think you made good points, but the guinea pig cage has storage--we keep our vacuum cleaner, extra wood shavings, and the "hideous" plastic bin (which contains their other supplies). It's convenient to have it close to hand and easy to clean. We have to be able to access their food, hay, and cleaning supplies on a daily basis. The cage cannot be too high because we would have difficulty cleaning it, not to mention it'd be difficult to catch those scurrying piggers if they were higher.

We do love the guineas and plants, and I am happy that people have noticed that.
