i actually preferred it the way it was. there's nothing mid-century about the knobs.

amazing! i'd just add some burts of color, maybe a colorful painting on the wall. some ceramics on the counter.

given that you have small children and may need to change the chairs in the foreseeable future, i would recommend the ingolf chairs from ikea (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30125923/#/30125923). they are solid wood and affordable. i wouldn't combine styles or finishes since you already have two finishes in the dining room, so one more is more than enough. then, i would concentrate on adding some color to the room with some vintage pottery or glass.

it has great elements. all i think is missing is nice area rug in the living room and some artwork on the walls.

i would put in wood flooring, throw out all the furniture and fixtures, paint the walls and the kitchen and bathroom cupboards white and update the kitchen counter, floor and appliances. you'll have an incredible beach condo.

it's undoubtedly a structurally beautiful home but it could be so much more. i don't get the tech part since everyone nowadays has a flatscreen and a mac. this isn't meant as a criticism, but ms. gomoll obviously has no great interest in decor. it just felt like a story was built around a random house rather than the house being the story itself.

i would add a bright, inviting color to the trim. maybe 14 carrots (CSP-1110) or tomato tango (CSP-1145) from benjamin moore. there are also winter shrubs which can add color to the front, such as the barberry or the burning bush.

i don't consider brown a neutral color. it doesn't mix as well with other colors as grey, and it's too strong. in this case, i find it too imposing in a nursery. so much can be done with color, especially in the case of a kid's room that brown seems the dullest of options.

not my taste and i wouldn't categorize it as mid-century at all. the overall feeling is very cold and the IKEA living room sticks out like a sore thumb in a supposedly luxury apartment.

i love mid-century modern, but the problem is when people overload to the point that it looks like they're actually living in the 1950s. the great thing about mid-century modern is that less is always more.

i would go bold and choose red (for ex. benjamin moore's vermilion). i think it'll play nicely off the brick and break up the monotony of the white.
