Where in Seattle did you find this? I live there, and am curious!

I made my first cake, and a three layer no less! I creamed so much butter on Christmas that I got two blisters. But it was delicious, and I finally began to understand the nuances of my new (crappy) stove.

I also made candied pecans, but I burnt about half of them. The rest were tasty though!

snickity -THANK YOU.

I am a vintage housewares nut, and there is nothing more painful than seeing piles or vintage glassware with designs and colors faded to nothingness because people popped them in the dishwasher.

Nothing, even new glassware, with painted designs should EVER be put in the washer. Please. For future generations!

So of course, I had a dishwasher until last month, but we used it as an oversize drying rack. It was so much easier than waiting until the dishwasher was full, which tended to coincide with when my roommate and I ran out of dishes. But then, I also fine dishwashing relaxing...

Anybody ever tried Pimm's Winter? I'm desperate to try it but it appears to be only sold in the UK seasonally. Can anyone prove me wrong?

I just bought one of these guys, and I dig it pretty hard. You have to refill it pretty often, and it is of course hand crank... but that's what I wanted, so it's perfect.

Well, it's hit or miss. My rule for shopping at costco? Don't buy anything I wouldn't buy outside of the store - and no cheating. What did I get last time I went?

-Beechers Flagship Cheddar - HUGE hunk of local, artisinal cheese - made literally minutes from my home, and my favorite, to boot.
-Tillamook Cheddar - Hey, it's local enough.
-Basson Bakery Pita Bread - I buy a pack of this a week. It's made in the next town over.
-Pacific Organics Tomato Soup - No packaging savings, but it's still a local brand, and organic.
-Like, six pounds of Prego. At least it was "heart smart."

I'm going again this week and buying big honking cases of local microbrews.

I also know for a fact that they give their employees excellent benefits. So maybe they are evil, but at least they aren't as evil as the vast majority of grocery stores out there. Those huge packages of Charmin toilet paper are HARD to resist, though.
