I've been seeing a lot of bamboo fencing around town lately and it looks great! The 1" tonkin cane makes a very strong barrier too. I'd be careful buying bamboo from just anyone. There is a lot of poached bamboo on the market and much has not been properly treated. Even commercial bamboo splits and cracks. I would try buying moso half rounds from a reputable importer like www.sunsetbamboo.com they have a variety of size and styles of decorative and construction quality bamboo poles.
