We convert the dining room to a play room just for parties, gathering up all the toys and displaying them like it's a toy store. It makes for a really festive atmosphere - and reminds me that we don't need ANY MORE TOYS! The rest of the time we have a pretty grownup space. Best of both worlds. Twilight Turtle is a wonderful thing for middle of the night responses to screaming hungry infants. You just have to blindly swat at it and a soft glow enters the room. Unfortunately, now that my kid is older and I'd love the pattern on the ceiling, I find that it only works for a few minutes and then the light gets too diffuse or something. It's a great inexpensive shower present. Sleeping Under the Stars: Star Projection Lights Roundup |

Ha - the comment from EDIN - that was my first thought - please tell me they pushed the mattress up for the photo and normally have it sunk down to the floor! Really cool room. That shade of turquoise just makes me happy. Elsa's Adorable Blue Nursery Nursery Tour |

It looks so "decorated by a decorator". Even though certain elements are cool, the rooms I see on this website that are done by non-decorators have so much more charm. Show House Nurseries as Inspiration Lucas Studios |

My son is in full time daycare and he is really happy there. He is allowed to be a kid and interact with other kids and not expected to mold his behavior to suit any adults or work environment. I'm still contemplating the best method myself but I am currently liking having several canvas bins (http://www.target.com/p/ClosetMaid-2-Pack-Mocha-Fabric-Drawers/-/A-12193109) one with the wooden stuff, one with plastic stuff, one with music stuff. . . I find that I'd just rather hang out with my kid. I went out all the time in my 20s and most of my 30s and I figure spending 2 years laying low with my sweet baby is just fine. I'll become a social being again soon but I am really enjoying dropping off the grid for a bit. Do You Use Your Kids As An Excuse To Not Attend Boring Parties? |

For anyone who doesn't live in NYC this is a crazy situation to have three kids in such a small room - certainly they'll have to move in the next couple of years or really reconfigure their space - in which case the custom wallpaper will have to go. It's a cool looking room but seems very temporary for all the expense that went into it. Home By Novogratz: Episode 8* *Now With Added Nursery Relevance! |

My son's crib transitions into a full size bed that we will probably use for our guest room and buy him matching twin beds. I only bought the convertible because in the range of sturdiness/price that I was looking at, they were all convertible. Better to Buy A Crib that Transitions to Bed or Not? Good Questions |

My immediate thought was charcol grey shutters and vibrant yellow door. I'd paint the steps the same charcol grey (using glossy porch paint). You could paint the stair rails white, trim up the bushes and plant some monkey grass along the walk and the place would shine. If you have the budget though, painting or slurrying the brick would really up the look. Color Suggestions For Front Door & Shutters? Good Questions |

One thing I never would have bought (but was given) is a video monitor - but I have to admit I love it. It gives me great reassurance and my husband and I love to look at our snoozing, snoring and sometimes screaming baby. The "Ronan Show" is often the best thing on TV. And since our neighbors pick up the signal on their monitor it's fun for all! The Number One Item Readers Thought They Needed But Didn't |

I have a different but also challenging mantel. We put a folk art piece that consists of a regtangular wooden box with a tin star on top -it's cool and it makes a visual triangle out of what used to be a bulky square - maybe look at Day of the Dead stuff? Those are amazing. It might be a good idea to protect them behind special (and crazy expensive) art glass to keep all bad sun rays etc. from damaging them so that they'll be around for a long time with the vivid colors. They would look really modern with a wide white mat, placed toward the top or to one side (so not centered), with a high gloss turquoise frame. What a treasure - I'm jealous!
