I would discourage using a UV light with a toothbrush. It makes plastic very brittle, and will probably decrease the life of your toothbrush bristles quite substantially.

The thing I don't get with the rotator rod is, well, how do you actually install it as one of the vast number of people who rents their tiny bathroom? If I screwed cheap-looking plastic plates to my bathroom tile, I would lose a giant chunk of my damage deposit.

Is a manufactured "as seen on TV" item really what this contest is for? I feel like "handcrafted" may need to be a requirement for future design showcases...

Seems kind of pretentious, in a "look how interesting I and all my stylized/branded things are!" way.

Current induction charging devices are less efficient (by about 15%, at least) than corded charging, and honestly, what's the point? Whether you're using a pad or a cord to charge your device, it still needs to sit in one particular spot to charge. In fact, at least when a cord is attached you can pick up and use your phone while it's charging. Until we're able to transmit power at higher efficiency over much larger distances, the technology is little more than a novelty.

Rechargeable batteries are still WAY less efficient than direct power.
I guess what I don't get is why this is wireless to begin with. Most won't use it with their Macbooks because it has a built-in trackpad already, and if you're using it with a desktop PC, what's the point of wireless? You don't even need to move it around like a mouse (which can get annoying with wire attached, especially on a messy desk). It's sort of an all around strange product I guess.
I would like to see a wireless keyboard/trackpad single unit combo for use with a media PC - I can see that being very handy. Most of the existing options are pretty dreadful looking.

"Initial costs for a comparable (something hard to do) Mac are higher but in terms of long term costs for repairs of software issues and other expenses, such as time lost and headaches you will likely incur as an average Windows PC user, you will most certainly do much better with a Mac."

This has never been the case for me, and for the most part the guts of apple computers and PCs now come from the same suppliers. You can find equivalent high-end hardware in PC or mac form if you look for it. Also, with the reviews in for windows 7, I would seem that the operating systems are on an even playing field.
I have known plenty of computer illiterate mac owners who have spent up the wazoo repairing their computers and buying tons of unnecessary software. Conversely, I have known plenty of people with PCs who have owned the same computer for 3-4 years without so much as a hiccup in performance (and they paid roughly half to boot).
The performance and longevity of a computer really depends on the user and how they treat the device. To suggest that the apple tax is REQUIRED to have a positive computer experience is extremely misleading and kind of um...insulting.

So. Many. iPad. Accessories. Is this thing really so difficult to use that you have to buy such specialized crap for it? This thing seems to be a gift to capitalism, let me tell ya.

I have tried one and the product is very polished, I'll give you that. That said, considering the hefty pricetag and the wasteful reality of yet another gadget sitting around, I just couldn't justify its existence in my home. I have everything I need and then some in terms of computing power in portable devices, so why buy this device (which does less than what I already have), just for the wow factor of the interface and touchscreen?

This, along with the "make your ipad into a netbook" keyboard attachment, almost seems like a joke highlighting the questionable design of this device rather than its utility. I still for the life of me don't understand what this device does that a cheaper laptop or smartphone can't do better.

Wow, that new office chair is awesome.
I have mixed feelings about Blu Dot. Their designs are outstanding - I don't think there's even one piece I dislike the look of.
Having owned their Dodu bed, however, I can say that the construction of some items is simply awful. It was the most expensive and most fragile piece of furniture I have owned.

This is kind of scary...if a connection forms between the threads and bottom contact (which is likely to happen in a lamp, where the balm can potentially melt and ooze down), the socket will short out. I would really not recommend doing this. As a general rule, any kind of electrical fitting should be kept as clean as possible to avoid fire.

I like the aesthetic behind this...it'd be easy (though time consuming) to duplicate in more permanent form using threaded rods instead of rope.

"Save up for a real Womb Chair and you will always cherish this design icon for decades to come."

It might be more like one decade to come. I've heard from a few people with authentic womb chairs that they actually wear very poorly with regular use (especially the foam), despite the absurd price. If you're looking for something that will hold up well and not require costly restoration/repair, you might want to avoid the womb chair altogether, whether it be real or a knock-off. Just because an item is authentic and expensive does not mean it is inherently well-made or deserving of your hard-earned cash.
