Keeping any animal in a small, city apartment can be a recipe for true love - you get to know each other intimately in a short amount of time. Since you will have to go out with the dog every time it needs to go out, as opposed to just releasing it into a yard, you two end up spending a lot of time together and mutually learn about each other's standards, moods, & health.

As a single person I lived with a 2-yr old GSP (45 lbs) in 450 square feet - the greatest dog. These are a high energy breed and so she and I walked two to four times every day, including at least one long park walk on leash daily and one dog-park off-leash romp with lots of jumping for frisbee, balls, etc. including in severe weather and cold. It was so great -structured the day nicely from the first moments; walking her soon became my very favorite thing to do. Dog parks are a friendly social time for humans as well.

With teens we also had a young 85 lb boxer/mastiff mix -- also high energy in a downtown loft. At first it was really frustrating because there was a vague idea of sharing responsibility. It took me awhile to figure out that the trick with enjoying this dog was to never expect anyone else to be in charge of him, but just to make it my job. As soon as I let go of the resentment from feeling that it was someone else's turn, it stopped being a chore and I began to really enjoy that dog. Also, I began to appreciate that the others were obviously pitching in, but I wasn't giving them credit when it wasn't on my schedule/terms - so that early frustration with the dog was entirely of my own making.

Enjoy your dog!

What kind of paint is best used on leaves?

This is the best idea for a personal touch on gifts, table decor, or other application --really beautiful, ultimately disposable -Thanks for the inspiration!

No matter what - your changes really made an improvement and is fun to see. It was obviously not going to turn into the exact replica of the inspiration kitchen but it was a terrific concept demonstration. Really nervy. Thanks!
