I had no idea about the ethical situation. Regardless of the decision we each make where to invest, it's helpful to know the facts. Thank you.

I have a similar color in my living room right now and would love a refresh of the color. What are your mustard/ochre paint colors?

We named our pope opener the Popener.

I also shop at supermarkets and department stores to see what the locals use to cook and serve. Even if I can get them at home (like a Moka) I still remember where I bought it every time I use it. I have my coffee makers from my first trip to Italy in 1989 in college. I bought one of each size and still use them all the time!

On the same trip I bought 5 Wusthof knives (my first) in Solingen, Germany and carried them in my backpack for 2 more months!!

Since digital tv I have yet to figure how to record shows. Our local PBS station has done shows that I cannot get any other way and we can no longer record, as far as I know.

Anyone?

I agree Mosfette!! Thank you! I've been more careful not to throw around ADHD based on my own family's recent experiences, but I'm going to be much more careful with OCD references. Maybe we can come up with some other moniker? OTTO - over the top organized?

I have a friend who reinstalled all her 'vintage' cabinets in the garage when they remodeled the kitchen. One could also erect a lovely potting shed and relocate cabinets and vintage sinks. Or, relocate a vintage electric stove (maybe it was gas...) as well and make it a summer kitchen!!

Sometimes I think we have enough historically accurate renovations and cute vintage remodels. I love a fresh makeover. It often reminds me of the very modern interiors in far more ancient buildings in Europe.

A few years ago I visited NYC and promptly hit the Union Square Greenmarket as I love to do and what did I see looking at me but Flying Pigs Leaf Lard that I had read so much about. I was traveling light and had about 4 pints packed in my carry on along with some great cheese (I was so naive!). I was stopped at security at JFK and asked what I had in my bag. I answered cheese, which by then I suspected and pulled it out, not very thrilled about surrendering it. Then she asked, anything else? Then I sputtered out 'lard.' Would she believe me??? She returned with, 'Honey, you can not take LARD in a flight.' It was a bit hilarious, because, who travels with pints of LARD? I was NOT going to surrender my beloved leaf lard. I ran to the counter to check my bag and safely got my precious cargo home.
