2 - Real windows (no basement apts)

3- Enough counter space to prep a meal, use an applicant and dry dishes on a rack simultaneously

I'm going on a ski trip with friends later this month. It gives me something to look forward to post-holiday. After that, I will just have to get through the short month of February, and hope that March is kind. I'm so ready for Spring.

I agree @fromageball. Fashion IS art, and some people need to come down off their high horses. I choose to be more understated in my fashion and decorating choice (not necessarily cheap), and while the space not my taste (as far as decorating and high-glam fashion), I can appreciate this woman creating a space that reflects HER. That is something that is hard to do, especially in a rental. Kudos to you, girl!

You make a great point. Once flat screens become banal, it will create a market for hiding them. I think now they are still seen as a sleek and elegant. I don't mind the TV, it's the other media stuff (cable boxes, gaming console) that I don't want to see.

The coffee table does not fit. I hope that was a bargain find. Also, for a such a small space, I would want a more "functional" and sleek table with room for storing magazines out of sight. Lots of pillows...and i imagine they get thrown to the floor when laying on the bed or sitting on the couch. Lastly, I miss the dining area. I would've taken a smaller "living room" space for the ability to have a small dining set. Ahh, NYC living...

Ok, I just want to start off by saying I ADORE the Novogratz team and family! I miss 9 by Design! I guess they are going to stay put for a while in their new home-- telltale sign that the market is not what it used to be.

I really like the work station, but it's not realistic for my needs (as if I were living there). It would get cluttered really quickly. I'm sure the couple will add storage as need.

And I love the photography! This photographer does some really good portraits, especially of the children.

As much as I envy New Yorkers that can live in beautiful spaces like this, I'm still not envious of the lack of space. Heavens forbid they get a "new addition." They only have one room....the space isn't liveable for long-term-- unless they plan on it just being them for the rest of their lives. If so, that's perfect.

@ROWSDOWER I thought that painting looked semi-familiar. I see that artist's pieces at a coffee shop close to my job.

I love the bedroom. I would love to have a bed/nightstand set-up similar to this one when I get my own place (someday).

I LOVE the office paint color/stripes. How did you get that subtle stripe effect. That color would be really cool for a bedroom as well.

Wine labels, if I'm at a party and really like the wine. I'm not sure about the clothing sizes suggestion...there's a notepad app for that.

I only snap pics of clothes if I want my mom or sister to weigh in on what they think.

I would pay for that dresser! Not for 900, but def 300 range. I'm just not crafty or patient enough to make my own :(

doesn't mean anything without comfortable chairs. A couple of these offices I couldn't sit in for more than 30 minutes at a time. Maybe that's a good thing...for health, not for business.

At first I thought this was a little much for a tot's room, but in the long run it will save you the headache of having to redecorate everytime she feels like she's "outgrown" it. I can see her wanting the change the pink in a few years (9 or 10 years old), but that's no biggie.

I like it! Change without being overdone. We need more stories like this to showcase that you don't need to spend five figures to change the feeling of a room and make it more "current." Good job at keepng the integrity of your design style.

I agree with a custom or really long desk and lots of vertical storage space. If you plan to use the space mainly for work, I would keep the bed small (no bigger than full size). I can't do a daybed/futon anymore, but maybe since you're fresh out of school you won't mind as much.
