I think you did well on your kitchen remodel. I have priced cabinet refinishing....if you have a pro come in, sand down your cabinets, paint them, and replace the hardware, that in itself can cost from 3 to 5 thousand, depending on the size of the kitchen...plus a counter top and a new window, and a new sink! and fridge? you did very well. I like your small island too....well done.

What sort of material is the bathroom floor?

Transistional...a blend of traditional with modern...home is a midcentury ranch , traditional with a lot of modern interior elements.

Its not ghastly, we're just not used to working with these color combos.

Its from Susan Sargeant....(a site that uses lot of different colors in lovely ways). You could paint the walls white, and use towels from the shower curtain that will correspond to your tiles, and tie it in.

I love vintage bathrooms...(ok, some more than others, its all a matter of taste..)...but if they are in good condition, they are so charming!

you have a lot of lovely rooms out there that are monochromatic and rooms on this very site where there is a use of cream, beige and layered whites. I think any color works as long as it is mixed properly with others. Personally, although the black and yellow works here, I would tire of it...it reminds me of a big bee.
