I have admired Alyssa Monk's work for a long time and find it very interesting to see how clean, organized and although a beautiful space, kind of unexciting her studio is. If you are interested in the relationship between the art one creates and the space those pieces come to be, you should check out this link. Lucian Freud, one of my favourite painters of all time recently died and although this little video saddens me it is exactly what I would have imagined his studio space to be! I'm not comparing, just noting the difference in work/space. Alyssa's Brooklyn Artist Studio Workspace Tour |

I would have to arrive with a big coffee and lots of time because I would need to give Pearl lots and lots of loves and kisses before I could even look through this fun store! If I ever get to Denver I will be sure to find this place! SEWN: Handmade and Vintage Clothing Creative Workspace Tour |

Well done! I think the only thing this room needs is a length of tiny fairy lights draped over the window and down the sides (nothing fancy, just hung on the rod). Lights out, fairy lights on, some relaxing music and a glass of viognier...bliss. Before & After: A Victorian Bathroom Gets a 21st Century Update Design *Sponge |

You are such a natural at decorating! I love your metal kitchen Island and just want to come eat a piece of that cake and drink a latte in that little vintage mug and be your new friend (and neighbor!). Oh, and my best friend is obsessing (in a good, artist way) about teal and burnt orange for her kitchen right now so i promptly forwarded her this link. Turquoise and orange work so well. You make me want to put a bit more effort into my own place... Mark's Delightful (and Delicious!) West Village HomeHouse Tour |

I wonder if this couple thought:"Hey, lets do something really outlandish and then see all the ridiculous comments it brings in! What about hanging the toilet seat above the bed?" Claes & Melinda's Natural (& Beautiful) Chaos House Tour |

Love this home and garden! Such great taste without a hint of kitsch or pretension. All this...and two big beautiful cats too! I wish we were neighbors and I could come and drink tea in your garden with you and hear all your stories! Thank you for the tour. Budi & Andrew's Global Oasis in London House Tour |

hahaha! I also had to laugh at that Portlandia episode as my bag had a crow on it at the time! Now, every time I see a bird on anything at all, I think..."Put a bird on it!" Peter's 1892 Brooklyn Brownstone House Tour |

My best friend emailed me this link saying "this is our kind of girl!". Yes, i must agree! I love your place and I LOVE that you had 32 artistic ladies over for dinner...in the back yard none-the-less...I wish Vancouver Island wasn't so far away! The salad looked delicious and forgive me for saying so but I'm hoping that was bocconcini in your salad and not big marshmallows! Cheyenne Weaver's Gilded SimplicityHouse Tour |

Absolutely beautiful apartment! I love all the light, the spaciousness, the character, the sporadic color and of course that handsome cat! I will say however, that in my opinion the pictures should come down a few inches. Ideally at eye level. This is the one thing that bothers me in any home...pictures hung too high! I personally wouldn't suggest that you dishevel your lives to re-do a piece of furniture in a small space. You might get frustrated and hurry the project along just to get your living space back. It is also not healthy for you, you need an open, ventilated space. Think hard, who do you know that has a garage or at least a drive-way? I am sure you could work something out with them to use their space with the understanding that you aren't going to impose on them in any way...you just need the space. If there is nobody with a space you can use then you could make it a summer-long project, doing one drawer at a time. It is a beautiful dresser, definitely worth your time and effort. Those 2 little drawers with the key holes at the top are lovely and quite rare! And yes, I also hope you keep all the hardware! Give this "heirloom" 100% of your efforts as you are sure to have it for many, many years. We'll look forward to the "after" picture! Good luck! How To Refinish Furniture in an Apartment? Silly ledge...I can see why you are stumped. My comment is more to do with protecting your little one from falling down the stairs. I'm surprised that so many people seem to think you are being too protective. That is a lot of stairs! That could seriously injure anyone, never mind a tiny person who can so easily lose their footing. My brother and I were at least 7 before we started tobogganing down ours on our crazy carpets! S/he will have to line the wall/door with couch cushions and pillows for a softer landing... How To Baby Proof This Stairwell? Good Questions |

Spring cleaning...usually means taking my broom outside and eradicating all the cobwebs that have accumulated around my cabin over the winter. After that I clean the outside of my windows which is so satisfying. About dogs in kitchen sinks. I loved the comeback about raw chicken carcass being far grosser - no kidding! People can be so full of crap sometimes! So here is a tip when you do put your little fella in the kitchen sink (GAK!!) or bathtub~ put down a wet hand towel first so they feel more stable and have something to grip. Slipping can be very scary and when they do their "shakety shake" at the end they won't be in danger of slipping and hurting themselves. 5 in 15: Five Spring Cleaning Chores To Conquer in Fifteen Minutes |

Your floors are beautiful. I'm not sure how this would look on white-painted floors but my favorite cafe has very old (unpainted) wood floors as well. They have patched similar holes with copper sheeting (I think it is the stuff used around fireplaces etc.). They just cut a square to size and then hammer it on with tiny copper nails. It looks great... natural, raw and interesting in a creative way. Good luck...and may the birth of your little one go perfectly! How To Fix Cracks in Old Wood Floor? Good Questions |

Kaytaybicks ~ 250 years old! Which country is this apartment in and when are we (please, please, please) going to get a tour?! I would love to see such a historical place. Don't worry about decor and your things, it's the architecture and personality of the building that will be so fascinating. I was definitely born in the wrong country (Baby Canada) and I get very excited over old buildings (especially ones that people live in!). Hope it can happen... lori Quick Fix for a Sloping Floor? "Amidst the indoor forest, looking through a windowed wall on to the abandoned, overgrown, pastoral railroad tracks"...AND you look onto overgrown railroad tracks? Bliss! About that gorgeous oak dresser that you found at a garage sale in Chicago, I can hear it now, "Mom! You what?! You sold that dresser? I LOVED that dresser!!". I mean really, was there nobody in the family that had wanted that dresser? I bet there was! Good score though. And I love the chair in your little desk corner. For such a vast expanse of room your home still seems cozy. Thanks for sharing! Michael & Anna's Rustic Modern Loft House Tour |
