Thank you for this article. This absolutely needs to become common knowledge. I can't even begin to list all of the misconceptions I face daily. I especially appreciate the comment about trusting your designers. It's so frustrating when you have a client making requests and demands that make no plausible sense. Far too many times have I wondered, "why did you even hire a designer/architect, and not go straight to a contractor?"

I want to see that shower in the bathroom with the marble counter. I saw what looked like an open, white subway tile shower and got really excited! Close, but no cigar.

Also, I was to snuggle that teddy bear of a dog so badly!

What's not to love?? This place is seriously precious. I love the light neutrals with the turquoise color you've choose. Splendid!

Love the bunny too :)

@ A.L.1; I was thinking some oversize, reclaimed wooden beams. Maybe something from old train tracks. Sturdy pieces with lots of character. Oh, and with the old patina hardware? Very masculine but chic and sexy. I mean, if she's looking for wood and hardware, why disappoint ;)

Ug. I have to disagree with Mayflowers. Red accent walls are waaaaaay over done by home owners. I've seen far too many. A vibrant red wall would keep me more awake than a mirror. Also, I've been sleeping with a mirror in my room for 23 years. Anyway...

Well done! This room is so calming and serine! I'm not enamored with the bedding, personally. But-- Love the chandelier, love the floors, love the headboard although I would pick a different textile for myself, love the glass table lamp and love the little succulents! Too cute

@ASMALLCONTEMPT I totally agree! I enjoy these photos and catching my fav TV shows with my girlfriends after making dinner together. However, I often wish our culture would look to how some of the far more matured European cultures prioritize. (Don't want to sound like a hooite-tootie-nose-in-the-air here, but...) When I studied in Italy for a semester we made friends with a local, and one of the greatest things we experience was the way they valued food, family and pleasure over the 40(+) hour week and the bottom line (the proof is there, my GPA dropped a full point that semester, but I could care less about that now!). I want to be successful, but it's hard to deny that we Americans work ourselves ragged until retirement age. Now, doesn't mean I won't enjoy some television entertainment with friends and food! Or that we won't sit around a table together, or go out to a restaurant, whatever!-- We just need to do more of it!

Since when is the Ghost Chair, not a "real" chair? Philippe Starck is iconic! And there are plenty comfortable and modern task chairs out there. But this person did want a typical task chair.
I think people are forgetting how many eclectic and "lived-in" spaces are featured on this blog. Who cares if it's staged and she took the chords out for the photo? It'll look "lived-in" by next week. . . honest opinions are fine, but some of these comments are silly.

Most staged arch photos will take the chords out for the shot. I wish everything were wireless, to me it's a necessary eye sore. I think the antique elements could have been blended with the modern ones. However, I prefer the lighter floors and streamlines built-in's. Very nice reno!

I can see what you're all saying, but I love the last photo of all the friends eating a meal they made and commenting on a show they enjoy together. It reminds me of the times my college room mates would have friends over, make dinner together and watch (or mostly talk through) episodes of Project Runway, Top Chef, or the occasional ridiculous Lifetime made for TV movie. Some of my most favorite memories! Even to this day I excitedly text them if I see something great on a show we all watch!

I always put the toilet lid down (habit forcibly picked up from my bf). It's funny because after picking this habit up, I could always tell when my room mates had used my bathroom. Now I'm somewhat offend/disgusted if I walk in and can see into the bowl . . . gross!

As for TP, my cat's never had an interest. Sort of wish she would, sounds funny! In any case, the waterfall way is the only way.

I thought I had sleeping problems since I am usually desperate for 15 mins of shut eye in the afternoon! Good to know it's human biology! I go home for lunch everyday, and love when I get time to nap for 20 mins. I've had job where I sneek out to my car and snooze. I'm so much happier in the afternoon. I've even snuck upstairs to my product library and laid down on carpet sample for 10. I feel guilty, but sometime I can barely keep my eyes open and brain clear!

My tick is; heated blanket, kitty curled up at my knees, fluffy pillow. Sometimes tv, but I'm usually so tired that I don't need it. Going to catch my lunch nap now!

Thanks for the recommendations, I also wondered if the plastic bags would have the same sticking issue. My question is, is it a problem to have stuffing inside along with the LED's? I'm making my first fox tonight, and I've been contemplation a few strategies if it's not a problem...

What I thought could be best is if you can leave the animal full with stuffing and lights, combine the last 2 steps. Using quite a bit less stuffing, fill the animal with a mix of stuffing and lights. This way the lights stay put and the animal stays full and firm, no stuffing tugging! The only thing I wonder about is if the stuffing must be removed, would there be a safety issue of leaving it with the LED's?

Any ideas for a 10 year old boy?? My nephew is a typical boy, likes video games and golf . . . and everything else 10 year old boys like. But I've never been/had a 10 year old boy, so I'm lost, pretty much every Christmas.

Yes, the original post comments are of no help. I'm nervous because I've decided I'd like to make three of these for Christmas gifts. The pattern and steps look simple enough. Now I'm hoping I don't end pulling my hair out over this. Anyone have tips about the stuffing yet? Also, I don't see it on the pattern, but do you need to cut a round piece of fabric and hand sew for a flat bottom??
