I'd agree with @alysaaria as the designer definitely deserves to make a decent living.

But a textile designer told me that Spoonflower only pays 10% commission - pretty crappy take if you ask me, especially since the buyer pays so much. Maybe most of the other 90% is going to the fabricators, etc. but my gut says the company is just taking a huge profit margin.

It's a gorgeous room - I wouldn't have liked the peach wall color on it's own at all, but with the accent colors you used it's perfect!

Adorable room for a adorable girl.

I think it's adorable.

And all the sanctimonious people that are aghast she painted the wood, did you not read the intro paragraph?

"I never, EVER would have thought that I'd be painting the wood blue, but my love for stripping and staining wood has had to be put on hold during pregnancy, and after getting various fabric swatches picked out… blue ended up being our final decision."

Yeah, her baby should have taken the staining fumes for the wood brigade. Honestly.

Anyway, it looks cute, and the paint can be removed any time in the future anyway (as well as the upholstery when a new trend emerges). For now it is completely adorable and perfect for what she is using it for.

To those who say a heirloom has to remain exactly as it started:

Doesn't a heirloom has even more meaning if each generation updates it a little for their taste and the current times while preserving the integrity of the original structure?

what a great thing to be able to look at the different incarnations through time of a single object in the family.

Super cute Clara -the cake topper is darling, and I love the striped straws too! I love orange and pink too - we did my daughter's room completely in orange and pink before she was born. (now that she's 3, she tells me "Mom - my favorite colors are red and purple!)

I love this catalog and wish that shopping here in the US looked more like that - one important way to make our voice heard about this is sign this petition on Change.org to Toys ' R' Us. Maybe if they have enough signatures they will change their ad practices.

Please check out parentingatwork.org and babiesatwork.org - they are also on Facebook. They have lots of information of how different moms and companies have made babies at work work! It's a nonprofit started by a guy who runs an engineering company that started a babies at work program and noticed the positive effects it had on everyone.

I now work from home with my toddler and not in an office environment but before I had my daughter I worked in a great family friendly office - almost everyone brought their babies in on Fridays and even older kids and sometimes during the rest of the week. It always brightened my day when I saw them there even though I didn't have a child of my own at the time. Almost everyone loved it and I think it boosted morale of the parents and the nonparents alike with the exception maybe of a few people who like to complain about everything anyway.
