i already switched from coffee to tea mainly because i wanted to get rid of the dairy associated with coffee for me. i cannot drink coffee black! yuck. so when i wanted to boot dairy from my fridge i made the switch. i drink black and green teas sans milk. though, i do treat myself to some coffee with milk when i meet people at coffee shops which isn't often. it's a treat then!

i think that's reverse stockinette on the back, no? such a cute pillow! would be totally easy to knit for yourself.

sorry, i know it's not "personal" or whatever, but know where your gift recipient loves to shop and get them a gift certificate. it's the only way to be sure they will get something they really like and won't throw into the dumpster as soon as they get home.

i love nutritional yeast (also known as "nooch"). we use it in and on just about every vegetable. i often have to tear the shaker we keep it in out of my daughter's hands because she loves dipping her fingers in and eating it :) yeah, we've created a monster!

i decided not to wait till my bulbs ran out and recently replaced many of them with CFLs. seeing as i'm a work-from-home-mommy, i was using my home lights a lot more than i used to and i'm hoping to save money on the electric bill this way. i put all my incandescents in a bag and stored them away in case i ever need them again. there are a few places in the house that still use them and i can re-use them there. that's as close to recycling them as i can get.

those are just crying for my daughter to grab them and throw them all over the floor :) maybe when she's older!

newman Os in mint are soooooo good. and i always buy his microwave popcorn too :) rest in peace mr newman. you will be missed!

here, we slice it up about 1/2 inch thick, fry it up in some oil and then put homemade BBQ sauce on it. serve it with some steamed greens (kale is nice) and mashed potatoes. mmmmm!

third on the rice cooker! just made some the other day. goes great in a nice big salad as a protein supplement :) also, my local natural food store has a quinoa hot breakfast cereal that i'm dying to try. the owner of the store likes it a lot.

true story:

we used to use paper filters until one day, i woke up all bleary eyed and fuzzy, went into the kitchen to make coffee, pulled the old filter from the coffee maker, and it ripped sending coffee grounds into EVERY POSSIBLE CORNER OF THE KITCHEN. let me emphasize that i had JUST woken up. that was not fun at all.

switched to a gold reusable filter the next day. never had that problem since.
