I can't believe all the votes for pink. I am so against that. I like eggplant best. A heavy, deep color for the paint, and you can use the light, punchy colors for accessories. And I completely agree with pokinatcha's arrangement. Paint Color for My Living Room?Good Questions | Apartment Therapy Chicago |

I am sure that the comments would be a lot more positive if all the same pieces and arrangements were in a more charming house, like a 1930's cape cod. I can imagine it is very hard to work with new construction homes. I think they have done a great job. I love the airy, vintage feel. The antiques, like the chest in the entryway, keep it from looking Pottery Barn to me. Apartment Therapy DC | Julie & Nate Channel the Colonial Aesthetic House Tour |

Your place is very nice. So much potential! I know you are asking us to choose between white and ivory, and I am not really answering your question when I say that I would choose a bolder color. Your palette is so neutral that many colors would work. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Good Questions: White or Ivory Sofa for this Room? |

I really like the stones around the fireplace and I see it totally working with the modern decor. I agree with everyone else that you need a new mantle though. I think that with the right furniture and disappearance of the nautical theme you could go a long way with this place. Have fun! i have to agree with some of the other posts... this rug does not look nice in person. it has a sheen to it that reveals the unnaturalness of the fiber. it is in my parents' basement now. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Good Questions: Searching for this Area Rug |

In reference to the "if you like it, buy it" statements, is it really that simple for most of you? I deal with this dilemma all the time where I can't afford what I really want, so I try to convince myself I like some affordable version of it I find. Then I wonder, have I just convinced myself I like it. As far as the chair goes, I think it looks nice, but uncomfortable. And rocking chairs should be comfortable.
