@good time teeth This post is as relevant as ever if not more so because of the poor economy. We are a country of people who live beyond our means, buy things we don't need, and waste so much in general. Even poor people buy things they don't need. This post is a reminder that we don't need as much as we think we do. It doesn't take much to live simply and well- we just have to figure out how to make the most out of what we have and what the meaning of living well truly is. Why shouldn't learning how to do so be done in a joyful manner? Just because times are hard it doesn't mean that you have to be morose. 5 Things I Learned on My Summer Staycation |

@horror vacui I know what you mean! I have a similar style. I love books and lots of precious-to-me knick-knacks and whatnot. My house is full of things that I find beautiful, though I'm sure to some it seems disorganized and not very well curated. I think that's just a testament to your kid's ability to know what he likes design wise and feel comfortable enough telling you about it, even though it's not your own taste. When I was a teenager I thought ikea was the height of style, even though i'm kinda shamed to admit it. Do You Live In A Grownup House? |

@urbancricket check yourself. that's just mean. I bet @fatskinnygirl has a lot of friends and family who were happy to give her and her spouse presents to create a lovely home. No need to be so accusatory. Jesus Christ. Do You Live In A Grownup House? |

To answer your question, though- I have a print out of the toxic plants and keep everything up on bookshelves and in other high places. He rarely notices them if they're out of his sight. Kitty-Friendly Flowers? Good Questions |

Operator- that is a deadly and very costly lesson to learn. I had a roommate who unknowingly brought a lily home and my 4 month old kitten ate it and nearly died. It cost me $2000 at the emergency vet. Somehow I don't think he learned a lesson. I certainly did, but I guarantee you if there was a lily in my living room, he'd still take a bite. They aren't humans, after all. Kitty-Friendly Flowers? Good Questions |

Wow- so many great responses!! I sew a little bit, but my skill level leaves a bit to be desired...so having it professionally reupholstered is probably the best option. I think maybe I'll take it back home to KY and see if I can find someone to reupholster it there- probably way cheaper than having it done in Chicago! DIY Reupholstering Help for Beloved Chair? @HouseonClintonAve I think your doctor is probably the best person to ask about this and not the folks who read a fancy blog about cooking. No offense, but there are a lot of varying opinions and assertions here and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Instead of looking to the media and insurance companies for advice on our health, it's probably best to talk to people who actually know what they're talking about. Does anybody actually live here? I'd love to love this, but it looks so sterile. I like an apartment that looks like someone actually lives there and loves their space. Not just a place that looks well designed- it would be like living in a CB2. Eduardo's Tiny Sanctuary |

BonnieSchulte, lalachris, and Betty14, you guys sound like absolute jerks! The house isn't dirty at all, Betty! Where do you live? In an airtight container with no soul or heart? I think I'd probably hate to see any of your apartments. I'm sure they're clean and maybe modern, but probably boring as all hell. You should be ashamed of being such snobs.
