Any updates on the Big Chill Refrigerator performance? Thinking about purchasing one and having a hard time finding much feedback about how people like (or dislike) them.

I love music in the bathroom, especially when I am cleaning it. You need a speaker that is loud to trump water running. It is nice for a brief escape from your family.

I agree to 'A Life Designed Comment'

Older folks know whats up. Their stuff is way better too.

This space is fantastic and such a well appreciated change from the usual clientele. More like this please.

The clock in the kitchen was from Pottery Barn at least 5 years ago though. It was on Clearance at that time. I have no idea if they still carry it.

Foam core scythe, naturally.

Love the house, love the scythe.

You made so many great things happen in that space and I can tell your family is inventive and resourceful. Bravo. Bravo!

I like the play on words!

I definitely don't love the piano's spacing. My Mom complains about it all the time! But, we had to squeeze it in somewhere and have space around it. Small house, small design indiscretions. Any ideas on how to cover that back? I been thinking about it for ages...

house owner here-
I really am thrilled with the positive feedback, thank you. To answer some inquiries...
-Horseshoe: depending on who you ask, from what culture, they can go up (to catch luck) or down (to pour luck on those who pass through). A lot of people comment on that, I might go up next time.
-Flooring in kitchen: Travertine 12 x 12 from Home Depot, I don't remember the colors exactly, one had the word 'noche' in it. There isn't too many choices.
-Island is great for parties, kitchen prep, general work area, and small family dining, forget about formal dinner parties.
-I have two children's stories planned out starring Rosie, my crazy looking mutt. Those pics just don't do her justice! The other eye is as clear, blue as you can possibly imagine.
-The west coast is covered because the map and mantel don't fit very well if you spread them out. I got nothin' but love for the West Coast.
-I will share contractor(s) we have used, for Chicolandia residents, once I get their approval

Hey now snark wagon! The next sentence in that statement might diminish your hostility towards my splurgey Harry Allen Piggy bank. Decorating this room was about the duality of spending and saving. Little piggy stands atop an old man's, oversized tool box ($4) that I painted the skull and cross bones on... I love both. And because they are both good design, they will likely both be enjoyed through my lifetime and beyond.

But, for all those who admire Mr. Piggy (free advertisement here)- I did get it at more than 50% off at House and Hold, due to a large free gift certificate with the purchase of my exorbitant glider.

Thanks for the compliments!

The bugs are a lucky thrift store find. Made in the early 90's out of super heavy duty plastic. I have never found their likes...

Way to make white look lively. This is lived in and dorky, but proud. I like it- not too fussy!

I got this chair in a different color, though I live in a big city couldn't find it in any stores to test run. I was actually surprised because it doesn't seem as high quality as I would expect for the price- though it looks sensational. You can lean your head back nicely and it glides beautifully, but not super padded like some other chairs that feel like clouds. The velvet would be better described as microsuede, it the shortest, coarsest velvet I ever felt.

Check thrift stores for alternatives, I saw loads. Never buy full price fabric from a fabric store- they charge TONS event with the 40% JoAnn coupon. In Chicago, try Designer Discount Outlet. I got posh, taupe velvet for $8 yard because they ordered too many bolts.

Good Questions

I have a rather large collection of used corks- they STINK. real bad. I keep them in large old jars, but when the lid comes off the stank almost knocks you out. And who would want a cork poking them while sitting?

Nice idea, but on the other side of practical.

Can you tell me if this glider is comfortable? Can you lean your head back and rest on it? Does it have nice fluid movement?

Room is great!

Does anyone know if Jennifer Delonge furniture is comfortable? I have not been able to find one consumer review. I was seeking some feed back on the gliders, since they are not in any stores anywhere to actually test out...
