I would take out the windows, and add open shelves to one and for the other, add drywall to close up about half the height (bottom) that would leave an open, "pass-through" kind of window. It makes no sense to actually have windows—glass panels maybe, but windows seems really silly and awkward to me. I also think that having both opening the same size and so close to each other makes the space feel cluttered—that's why I suggested using 2 different effects. Just reacting to the inclusion of a "garden and gun" lifestyle magazine, three days after a mass-shooting. Not expecting everyone to agree! As I said, cute enough house! New Construction with Old American Charm Garden & Gun |

Cute enough house, but agree that finding content from Garden and Gun on AT is really off putting, especially given the timing. New Construction with Old American Charm Garden & Gun |

FYI. There's a difference both in practice and in cost of simply "recovering" a piece of furniture, and actually "reupholstering" it. Recovering is changing out the fabric, perhaps adding some new cotton stuffing. Reupholstering involves the guts—webbing, springs, etc. along with all the stuffing and outer fabric. Like most things, when you pay less, you get less. However, that said, many pieces probably don't need to be fully reupholstered (especially those that are less than 50 years old). The racks as bookshelves are a great idea. I LOVE those floors too, could you post more details about them? Thank you! Kai's Closet-Challenged Charmer My Room |

I just had bookshelves made by Christian Galesi in Brooklyn (http://galesidesign.blogspot.com/), after seeing his name on Brownstoner, and I couldn't recommend him more. He did an amazing job, the finish is beautiful, and he helped me figure out exactly what I wanted. He's also a generally nice and professional guy. I just had built-in bookshelves made for our loft and I love them so much. They can be hard to plan at first, and I was nervous they wouldn't look right after they were installed, but they are actually better than I envisioned. We worked with Christian Galesi in Brooklyn, and I couldn't recommend him more. Totally worth the investment! Fine Features: Built In Bookshelves Roundup |
