Like Sydog, I also have beige rental carpet...right up to the front door. And really no entryway; the door comes into a large open space that encompasses the living room, dining room and kitchen. And because my front entry is open to the elements, wiping my shoes on the doormat isn't always effective. Still trying to find a way to combat this problem. Tried putting a second mat inside, but it won't stay put on the carpet and impedes opening and closing the door.
