Silver gilded candle holder made of antlers at Home Goods. It was probably 30$ but I didn't have a job at the time so I passed. Went back a week later and there were none left. I still look every time I am there even though this was 3 years ago.

My parents glazed their tile years ago and it still looks great. They only had the option to do white or offwhite though. I've painted tiles and it eventually peels off.
If you go this route I'd suggest having someone glaze it!

I would put a tall-ish entertainment system parallel to the front door (like an island) and a bench or entry table on the backside of that. Then the area that's already dedicated to hallway space can become your entryway.
I'm having a similar problem right now with my dining room - but the apartment is laid out very similarly.

I own the Melltorp table. For 70$ it's an awesome table. It's metal or metal like - and a lot heavier than I expected. It's a pretty basic table.
Overall - totally worth the money!

I bought the round Simple Human trash can right before moving into my apartment. I like it, but I would advise getting a different shape - the round can fills very quickly. I would prefer one of the rectangular ones.

As far as spending so much money on a trash can - I have lived in numerous apartments with insect problems (I lived in NY for a few years, they're impossible to avoid) and this is one measure I am willing to take to prevent this from happening again.

I purchased the West Elm tall wood bed frame in December. It has nearly fallen apart since then. The supports simply fell off and I had to prop them up - and the wood already has chips in it. The bed itself isn't very sturdy and moves around quite a bit.
