The garden path is brilliant!

I agree with oakland that some pops of color would help. The wall of windows could use some perking up, too.

I can't imagine that someone who likes a streamlined look is going to be keen on hanging curtains or making false drawer fronts. And constructing a facade around this piece seems like much ado about nothing. Your friend's best bet at minimizing the scale and style of the entertainment center is adding interesting art and personal items that will draw attention away from the structure. Diffused lighting in that area would also help to avoid the kind of extreme highlights and shadows that will emphasize the rope detail.

The bike on the wall is great - storage and art all in one. I also really like that wall color, and it's great that you didn't carry it around everywhere. Is that a leafy curtain in the bedroom, or is that some crazy growing plant?

The blue and white in the "bedroom" is very fresh. The dining room table and chairs are a bit disjointed, but I love the woodsy wallpaper.

I love the female nude sculpture on the coffee table. Who's the artist?

Oh yeah...and there are about 4 too many accent pillows on the couch. It looks too staged - like you don't expect (or want) anyone to sit down. Toss a few of them on the bed instead.

The colors, furniture and accessories all seem very harmonious. I particularly like the green accent wall, the large text art, and the rug. But the layout is awkward (dare I say "bowling alley").

I would swtich the location of the couch and the entertainment center to put the couch and coffee table in the "deeper" half of the room. As they're arranged now, it doesn't look like you could possibly reach the table while sitting on the couch. Flipping the TV to the opposite wall would mean that you could view it while in bed.

I also find it awkward to have the dining area at the foot of the bed.

You've got all the pieces to the puzzle, but they're not fitting together quite right.

I really like the bold use of a large-scale painting over the bed. Nice.

It's not ringing my bell. The poor quality of the photographs is really detrimental, but what I can't decipher through the haze isn't all that interesting.

It's a bit dark and overcrowded for my taste, but it definitely shows some personality. And it's clear that someone actually lives here!

For me, this space is austere and cold - more appropriate for an office than a home. I don't find it particularly interesting either since all the furniture is pretty homogenous.

I'm puzzled by a couple of the furniture placement choices. The desk behind the column is cramped and awkward, and the mirror next to it looks as if it would give you a full length view of the column.

I do like the inventive way you've partitioned off a bedroom space. And it looks like you've got a stunning view, Tanya, but that's irrelevant to this challenge.
