for economic reasons i had my gas stove disconnected years ago. it didn't make sense to heat up the entire oven for 1 or 2 servings. Since then I got a countertop oven tall enough to bake bread or cake inside. But i also use a slow cooker and a single electric burner. i may use a little more electricity but it's cheaper than gas.

We are NOT being encouraged to eat 'high art' cooking everyday, whereas Paula Deen and all the other can opener cooks ARE encouraging bad food as everyday cooking.

For just contemplating the idea of making a hamburger with Krispy Kreme donuts, the woman should have been publicly scorned.

Moderation and self control ARE not found on food tv nor anywhere else in our society regarding food.....hmm or anything else for that matter.

These people exclaiming 'i can't afford to buy expensive food' are just rationalizing their bad 'convenience food' choices. Paula Deen and her tubs of butter and trucks of ham are just a symptom.

This is probably NOT helpful but why don't dorm rooms have safes like hotel rooms? it seems simple enough. if i had all these gadgets when i was in college, i'd have a safe..but then i'm paranoid, i'd also put all my cds, dvds and comestibles in it. Perhaps just installing a pad lock on a dorm fridge and using it thus?
