What ever happened to "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all?" I might not even comment but I think I need to help make up for the rude haters. Your DIY efforts are amazing and I just love the creativity and woodworking. If only I had your skills with a downed tree! Thank you so much for inviting us into your home and showing us your beautiful and hard work.

Thanks for the reminder that we need to trust in each other. I am usually happy to help people but rarely ask for help myself because, like BlueTansey, I fear being judged as a freeloader. It's a foolish way to live because it is so isolated and closed off. Learning how to be part of a community even in our individual travels through life is more valuable than any possession we could carry with us.

This is funny. Just two days ago, my husband and I agreed to reinstate our tech free night on Wednesdays this year. We made it through late spring last year but then we started remodeling our house and scheduling got wonky. I'm looking forward to making dinner together, playing some cribbage and reading until bed. The only tech we allow ourselves is music.

Some of these are actual entry ways. I have a house where you open the front door directly into the middle of the living room. We split the living area in half so that there is a couch and two chairs on one side and a dining table on the other, but the dining table just becomes the landing strip/junk pile. I have yet to see any solutions that actually work here. We do have coat hooks in the stairwell across the room, so that helps but the mail is always a mess. Frankly, I have never understood how anyone designed an efficient living room set up with a door that opens into the middle of the living room.
