I still feel like my mom would buy some of these.

I think my parents were much greener when I was young but became less so as work/life/stress increased.

Btw, that picture makes me really uncomfortable!

I tried shaving with shampoo and hand-soap today and OUCH. Just not the same as shaving cream.

I had a beautiful antique tripod sitting in my apartment for a while but never got around to turning it into a light. Wish I had!

Which kitchen cabinets?

That room looks identical to one we stayed in when visiting the Dominican Republic. The canopy, however, was a necessity to keep the mosquitoes from eating us alive.

I really like the looks of these - wouldn't mind trying to make my own!

My coop only has bulk foods and herbs - no liquids, and definitely no toiletries.

They state on their Web page that:
"if it’s heavy [your container], we’ll weigh it first, if it’s light then just refill and we’ll weigh at the end."

Great post! I've actually nearly purchased a heat gun for some DIY home repair projects (veneer adhesive, etc.) but a hairdryer probably would have worked just as well.

When I was young, my mom made gift baskets one year for Christmas and there is shrink wrap that shrinks to a hairdryer. It's a pretty fun project for a kid, watching the plastic shrink until it's nice, taught and clear instead of distorted by all the crinkled lines.

Great design - nice to see companies thinking about ways to hide the radiator too. I understand it's not meant to necessarily be used to hide a radiator all the time but it does so very well in the first photo.

I'd say no one brand is perfect - I'd prefer to mix and match based on scents, price, size and past experience!

I believe Coleman actually has a program in place to refill the old bottles, or, and I'm not sure I recommend it, you could follow this <A HREF="http://www.instructables.com/id/Refill-Disposable-Propane-Tank-from-a-Standard-BBQ/">Instructables.

I tried it the other day - barefoot stadiums. I could barely walk for a week following - not because my feet hurt (though halfway through my heels did starting feeling bruised), but because it was a killer calf workout!

Love it, that's great! They should create "accessories" for glass jars too, and actually sell them in stores. Someone get Classico on the phone.

I can understand the concerns of some of the commenters regarding paid advertisements in blogs, especially after some of the recent media regarding bloggers not disclosing their affiliation with advertisers (See yesterday's NPR story on Mom Bloggers). I can assure you however, that as the author, I came across the product searching for ideas on how to cover my back porch stoop and thought it was a pretty neat product.

And Kushkush is correct, these are very similar to FLOR, an eco-carpet tile, however I've never dug much into FLOR since I have hardwood floors at home.

I'll this opportunity to mention that Apartment Therapy has always and will always mark sponsored posts with a "Sponsored Post" tab running down the right side of the post. When I lived in the city of SF, we drove about once a week - and that was to find a new parking spot before the street cleaning and accompanying parking ticket got there once a week.

It was handy to have a car for the occasional trip but rarely was the car used within town since public transportation was so good.
