I love absolutely everything about your apartment! The space itself is so interesting and full of character; the ceilings, the floor, the walls, the window... so small, and yet so full of magnificent details. And architecture aside, I am so envious of all your beautiful stuff! The distressed cabinet is amazing, the chairs are great, the barstools are incredible (where did you find those?!)... You've managed to combine many different styles in a very tiny space and still have everything feel cohesive, nothing awkward or out of place. It just works. Honestly, I wish I could climb into my computer and experience the magical little world you've created firsthand! Bravo!! Charlotte's Decorative Arrangement Small Cool Contest |

I wish I could say my first apartment was this cute! Your place is quirky and adorable, and looks totally cozy and inviting. I can totally imagine a gathering of friends converging in this space.. particularly with the kitchen and living area kind of blending together (because everyone always ends up hanging out in the kitchen anyway, right?). Last year we redid our entire kitchen, and in the process "upgraded" to a single sink. It has saved me so much counter space and prep room (which is at a premium in my small space) and actually gives the illusion of a larger kitchen. Although the total sink area is now smaller than when I had a double, the sink basin itself is actually larger and deeper than either of the individual tanks in the double sink. Ironically, my smaller sink leaves me with a lot more working sink capacity... now I can fit my stockpot in the sink to fill it and lay an entire sheet pan flat at the bottom to scrub it. The new sink has been my favorite part of our kitchen update, hands down. Space Saving Chic: Tiny Sinks in Tiny Kitchens |

Annamaria, thank you for this post and the original. As someone who is also trying to figure out life with her future husband, I can totally relate to what you're going through (as I'm sure MANY can!). Knowing how to keep balance in a home and in a relationship isn't some innate, automatic instinct, nor is it always easy. Like anything worthwhile, it takes time, trial, and error to figure out. But like you, I'm confident that our love and commitment to each other will be a big help. We'll get there. Reading your thoughts and your readers has been enlightening (in many ways), and given me a lot to consider as my partner and I sort through our roles and responsibilities. In my experience, the aftermath of sinus/nose surgery is more than just discomfort while chewing. My major problem was not being able to breathe out my nose, forcing me to be a constant mouth breather. Thus, I needed foods that didn't get in the way of air intake. Miso soup was my favorite because you can take it air with the warm broth. Also, it's heavy on umami, so the flavor tricked me into thinking I was eating something much heartier. Besides that, lots of oatmeal, applesauce, cottage cheese, and Edy's frozen fruit bars (my personal favorite treat after any major illness or surgery). Indian food, for sure. I immediately crave korma and curries when there's even the slightest chill in the air, and chicken tikka masala is fantastic cure for both snowy days and headcolds. The rich, thick sauces and aromatic spices are complex yet simple, and warm me from the inside out. I order mine extra spicy this time of year. Mason jars also have the added benefit of being reusable for a wide variety of different purposes, beyond glassare: canning, containers for leftovers, storage around the house, crafts... the list is endless. When you consider all the different ways they can be used after the guests are gone, buying a flat or two for a party seems like a pretty good investment.
