i use google reverse image search all the time to find an image's original source (i.e. the photographer or magazine where it first appeared) before blogging it. the only thing you need to be aware of is that it's not going to always lead you to an image's original source (rarely will it without further searching). so if you're going to use an image on a blog post, it's good to keep hunting for the original source to credit properly. just something to think about when using it if you like to give proper credit.

lady j is quite right - this is my dining room and the walls are actually rust oleum's chalkboard black. i believe the photograph from rue magazine is just a bit saturated, making it look blue.

i remember making plaster molds in art school and it was so much fun (and kind of scientific as i recall!). these look great, and i love graphite powder. i say if you like letters and personalizing rooms, why not? if you don't like it. make something else that you love or means something to you personally, even if it's simply your child's hand print.

redjet - it's true, FB is just the means to a great end. i don't think anyone who's tried Pinterest yet has had any troubles with Facebook. but we hear you, and as Ben said, they're working on that. and, you don't have to make your Facebook account public to participate. :)

we hope you'll follow along! so far, everyone, including myself, is quite addicted to Pinterest, and it's been an awesome tool for bookmarking for blogging!

you know, i don't feel bad if you don't like the poster. it's more the unconditional hate that bothers me. whatever makes you happy...art is so subjective. bravo for new ideas and new art.

i've been trying to stay out of this, simply because i don't really think contests are a great idea. i think each of us design bloggers (including those not in the top eight, and some amazing new ones out there!) have a voice, a personality, and we truly love doing our blogs or we wouldn't put so much effort into it.

anna - you keep strong, girl and do what you makes you thrive, because clearly the readers are loving it. there does seem to be a line being drawn these days between what is a 'blog', or simply a design site, some of us giving up on the standard blog formats because they can be restricting or unruly, but that's all technical and boring stuff you need not care about. what matters, is that the few of us nominated here that i do know somewhat personally (and some i don't) put their heart, soul and hours into more than you might think and i think they all deserve some respect, which often comes with criticism. it's not the wall street journal for heck's sake...we're just bloggers, enjoying sharing what inspires us. i am often surprised at how worked up y'all get. my hope is that you all try and take what you can from what's offered and get inspired to find what motivates you creatively - it's all so subjective and we're all drawn to different style. viva la difference!

cheers to all the nominees and to all the others striving to do their best!

what i meant by 'cheer up' is that i find it increasingly upsetting to read all the negativity in the commenting section of this blog, regardless of the topic. it seems very petty and i don't quite understand the origin of it. it just snowballs into a dark place i don't comprehend or enjoy.

the writers/editors at ATSF work freakin' hard to come up with things to share with y'all, and i just find the rants about the most mundane things kind of depressing, and i am sure it is quite frustrating to the people who work hard to put out this blog. you try writing everyday and finding unique things to share. it's not always as easy as you might think. perhaps just think twice before you jump on the negative bandwagon, and if you don't care for something, maybe offer up something you do.

oh you kids. sorry to trouble you all so much with the posters. i think you should create your own - all of those ideas are just lovely.

in the meantime - which issue of Oprah magazine? would love to see it (oh come on, just one more time!).

cheer up everyone! :)

I have to say, very well done!! I was looking through the pages, and kept getting bursts of inspiration, so I'd get up and change something in the room! It is beautiful and Maxwell and Jill and everyone who worked on it should be really, really proud. It's a great book! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of it - I am so proud to be included! :)
