As long as you are staying in the US, moves are pretty easy. If you are still in college, maybe doing it yourself is cheaper, but I gave up on that at graduation. Its so much easier and cost effective getting someone else to do the heavy lifting. I have done plenty of moves from Florida to NYC to NJ to NYC to California to Washington to California. Moves didn't get difficult till the move to the Netherlands. Stressful, sure, but difficult, no. That international move was also the most expensive. I got rid of all my furniture before the move, yet it was my first move that cost more than 2K...coming in closer to 6K and taking 3-4 months for delivery. As for buying a house....theres no real difference doing it around the block vs the other side of the country. Again, its not until you go international when things get tricky.....all docs that I had to sign here were in a language I don't speak. Best Way to Handle an Out of State Move? Good Questions |

This is a really bad idea if you are moving internationally. If you use original packaging, it looks new to customs officials. If you cannot produce a receipt for any reason (like its in one of the 30 boxes being moved), then you may have to pay the customs duties. I had to pay up about 300 euros because I had my Sonos in its original boxes. You could potentially fight it, but good luck if you don't speak the language. I really don't understand how someone could have a hard time with Ikea instructions as they are today. They are some of the best designed and easy to follow guides I have ever seen. Do what each picture says, and don't jump ahead. And do it right, the furniture is solid and will last for years. Hi-Tech Solution For a Low Tech Problem: Improving IKEA Instruction Manuals |

If its "in direct competition with the Kindle" there is no question that it lost. There is no comparison with the Kindle or Sony or Nook. But for other things, it does have potential. Compared to my expectations, it failed completely, but there are new scenarios I hadn't thought of that make this amazing. A universal remote is not it...I am upset enough when my remote's battery dies after only 6 months....10 hours??? yeah right. Wacom tablet???With no pressure sensitivity or angle recognition. Finally a netbook with a pointing stick instead of those lame trackpads. They are the first thing I turn off on a laptop. This might be the first netbook I will consider buying... Apartment Therapy Unplugged | CES 2009: Sony P "Lifestyle" Netbook Gets Revealed |

Actually, Shure doesn't have any noise-cancelling headphones...at least not on that page. They are noise suppressing, so they just block out the noise, rather than electronically neutralizing it. I have what used to be called the E5C's and they do a better job than the Bose Noise Cancelling headphones, but I often carry both on a plane. I use the Shure's for the first few hours, then switch to the Bose when my ears start to hurt. The Bose are so much more comfy, especially on Amsterdam to Australia trips... Wait, you have just drilled big holes into the wall to be able to hang a LCD tv, and now you are worried about the holes required to hide cables??? Unless of course you are hanging the TV with a small picture hook, in which case the TV will fall pretty soon so you won't have to worry about hiding any cables... The long battery life and the ability to read outside in direct sunlight are some of the highlights of these devices. I have the Sony and it fantastic to be able to sit by a plane window for 17 hours to Singapore and read straight through. Knowing that I won't have to recharge for another month is amazing. I recently bought an Ikea Galant for my desk. They are as big or as small as you want them to be. The combination I got is almost exactly like this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S19807564, but in the typical Ikea brown. Its a great desk. Not as good as the Effectivs they used to sell (nowhere near as sturdy and much more difficult to put together) but then its probably about a third of the cost. I have room for everything plus extra space to think. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Using An IKEA Kitchen Table As A Desk |
