Does "up cycled" mean "fixed?"

The first one with the movable backrests is beautiful and clever. Like ATS1980, I'd like to sit in it to see how it feels.

I just watched the video about the renovation and I'm more confused than ever. The description says that they took one large bathroom and made it into two. The photos make it look like a wall was moved back to make this bathroom bigger.

Also the renovation was called a budget reno but the vanity is from Restoration Hardware and costs more than what it cost for me to redo my whole bathroom.

I feel like this is a post from another dimension. I love it, but it doesn't quite make sense to me.

Did I miss part of the tour? I was led to believe that there would be goats.

Every example in the photos looks awkward and ugly.

I agree that $100 seems stiff. You could probably find a potted one for a lot less and tie it to a piece of wood.

We have an alcove sofa in our office. It looks great but it's not comfortable and it has some weird arbitrary detailing that makes it seem the opposite of clever.

The one we have has the high walls that are attached with zippers. It seems like you could lower the zipper and fold down the side and back panels for different levels of privacy but the panels are rigid and don't fold, making the zippers pointless.

Are bedrooms called sleep spaces in Paris? I thought maybe it was a partitioned area of a larger space, but it looks like a contained room.

If you let the water get sucked up completely every few days it might keep the mosquitos from hatching and growing. I'm not sure how long they need.

That was such a treat to see. I love the celadon green tiles in the bathroom.

OK, I get it. In a 400sf apartment it's hard to take a wide shot that shows what the rooms look like. But was there some other factor that required 75% of the shots to be taken from 2' away or less?

This feels more like an editorial shoot than a home tour.

That being said, I love the story it's telling about the space. The overexposure really pushes the sense of light. It's like the tiny space is positively crammed with light, it's overflowing with light. You almost can't move through the space because of the pressure of the light. And then, when you're about to suffocate from the pressure, you fall into the endless depths of the most beautiful, fathomless cat eyes.

Glasglow Park? Do you mean Glassell Park?

I agree with JJmcgrath, the scale of those vases is great.

I've never understood why it's greedy for a property owner to lease a space at the market rate. Rent control forces property owners to subsidize someone else's living expenses. I don't think that's fair.

If society thinks that someone should be guaranteed the ability to live in one place for their whole life, then society should pay for it.

I thought the problem people had with Dabney's brass knobs was that they were paired with stainless appliances and a brushed silver faucet.

I'm glad to hear that so many people took typing in high school. It's one of the only things I learned in high school that I still use everyday.

The class itself was pretty miserable, but that was probably due mostly to the teacher. I'm thankful now that he was such a stickler.

I'm a little surprised that people are so aghast at the prices. Especially when the price range is so broad. Nice things are expensive.

I've been in love with the Serge Mouille fixture since the first time I saw it in person. It has a grace and delicacy that cheap knock offs can't come close to. I couldn't afford it then and I would struggle to buy it now, but if I saved $20 a week for the next year and a half, I could buy it and it would be a short time to wait for something that I would have for the rest of my life.

I think Jason Loper did a great job of showing a range of options, some easily attainable, some aspirational. If AT only showed things I could afford it would be a pretty boring site.
