Ah one more thing: We haven't gotten to adding other stuff to the dining room. But we will. (The wall is slightly curved so that adds a little wrinkle but we'll manage). We will probably avoid a rug though because with our toddler it's just so much easier to clean hardwood floors.

Here are 2 more better pics;

Chairs for Calligaris Planet DiningTable? Good Questions

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. The more the better -- keep them coming.

A few reasons are pushing us away from keeping the chairs in the picture. First off, the chairs look better in the photo than they do in person. Additionally, they're a bit too deep for us, we'd really like to get shallower chairs (more on this in a bit), Finally, we considered painting them black like Nionon suggested, we just have no clue how to paint on top of a veneer. If we have to sand the chairs, it would just be too much work. If this as easy as cleaning the chair, buying some primer, and buying paint and painting i'd give it a shot.

We just moved to this apartment and decided the old rectangular dining table we had just didn't fit this space right (it's a 10' 6" x 10'6" dedicated dining space ). I also wanted to mention that both my wife and I are under 5' 8" so we'd ideally love chairs that are not too deep (21" or less"). As you might have deduced we have a toddler -- so we must always take him into consideration when buying furniture.

Here are some chairs we've looked/considered/loved and thought were too expensive..

1)Room and Board Soren Chairs in Black Love em but WHOAH too expensive.

2) CB2 Joe Chair still a bit pricey... what do you guys think woudl this chair match?

3) Ikea Martin Chair/R&B Jake Chairs -- weren't sure how these would hold up and what kind of colors might make sense with the jake chairs.

4) These Black Chairs - we are considering these chairs -- but are concerned about the build quality from some other reviews we've seen on line about wobbling etc.

i bought my first mattress over 10 years ago -- spent $1000. I think it was a great investment. I sleep at least 8 hours every night so I figure I spend 1/3 of my life in my bed. $1000 seems like chump change to make sure 1/3 of my life is comfortable -- FOR 10 YEARS (and counting).

I know some people who just don't care about their mattress/bed -- at least they didn't -- but now that they are getting older, they're seeming to care more.

"The profundity of his advice, or better -- plea, is spectacularly insincere. "

to be fair if your family owned DWR or Room and Board you'd probably get the large majority of your furniture there. Furniture at or below cost? cmon now can't blame him for that.

obviously not meant to be practical as there is no plumbing or electrical. Cool concept, i wonder if they could get windows that could frost with the touch of a button. that would be cool!

sounds like the developer is a bit of a D*ck -- but honestly I think it's totally unreasonable that that neighbor gave him so much grief regarding his original plans.

Personally, I don't think neighbors should have much of a say on how you build on your own land (as long as it is within regulations).

I mean I totally understand maintaining historical integrity of buildings that can't be torn down or changed...but to say that people shouldn't be able to build a house that they like.... that's BS.

As far as this house...there are a lot of cool things about it -- but it looks a bit strange!

well i think the pt is you can have low end thrify, middle of the road thrifty, and high end thrifty.

For example, I purchased some Tolomeo Classic Floor Lamps for $150 each -- although $150 per lamp is not exactly thrifty, I consider it as a thrifty purchase -- b/c it was for far less than retail.

I think these 3 probably saved a bundle on the actual labor of design, contractors, etc, but bought high end stuff.

pcraine,

As I said, I am generally (in fact always) the buyer of authentic or licensed products. However, I don't begrudge the people who buy the knock offs b/c A) they don't know better B) that's all they can afford C) the Knockoff looks nicer than the the comparable $250 chair. It's amazing the crap that is sold out there at that price range.

I just feel that it makes sense for this market to exist -- these cool looks should not just be available to those who can afford it. Those who can afford will have a higher quality "original". Honestly, what is wrong with that?

NOw if Target put a Herman Miller Seal on the item or wahtever -- then that would be absolutely wrong. IMO

I tend to by the authentic thing -- for a few reasons -- 1) I like the original 2) they tend to have better resale value -- I tend to buy items at great prices.

But I don't have a problem with knockoffs that do not infringe on a logo. Most "designs" are in one way or another a knockoff of someone else's design and definitely has elements borrowed from other sources. If your interior designer or architect designs an apartment a certain way does that mean others cannot do it in the same way?

In this case, Target does not even market these as Eames replicas. It's just a similar look. I'm glad that people can buy a similar look for a lot cheaper.

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if I could get some coordination help.
I have a tiny studio apartment and am filling out the living room area -- I currently own a 55" Room and Board Zurich Media Console...

http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/product.do?method=get&id=995356&coll=378102&cat=55

I'd like some advice for a coffee table that would go with it. I'd like something that helps to give the apartment the illusion of space. Unfortunately glass top coffee tables are out of the question as my wife hates Windex! LOL. Any suggestions...?

a Small Portica Table with a walnut top? Any other stores to look at? Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone, I've got a mix and match question for everyone.

I own the 55" Zurich Media Console and would liek to find a coffee table to match it. (i happen to own the one without the top doors b/c the remotes don't work through it -- and i watch a lot of TV and would hate to keep opening and closing it -- eh maybe i should've gone with the one with the top doors who knows)

http://www.roomandboard.com/rnb/product.do?method=get&id=995356&coll=378102&cat=55

Any suggestions? Any glass top coffee table is out of the question as they are just too inconvenient to use.

Also what do people think when it comes to using either the same type of wood? or a different type of wood. I was thinking a coffee table with stainless legs and in maple... something like the R&B Basis or Copenhagen.

I'm open to anything thanks guys!
