I like your idea of playing off the darker border tile--paint walls that cocoa brown to match, and maybe add accents of silver, in the form of a large mirror, (so the dark paint color becomes almost a border around the large mirror)--this would tie it in to the glass blocks. You could even (if you're up for it) re-stain the vanity and med cabinet darker, or paint with silver leaf paint. Travertine, to me, evokes a "spa" feeling, so why not play up the spa-ness of it by having fluffy white towels, and maybe a white waffle-weave shower curtain? You could add some teak accessories like a wooden bath mat, or a small teak stool, too.

I think the coolest thing about your sofa is its shape--it's essentially a piece of sculpture. So, to emphasize its shape, and DE-emphasize its colour, I would paint the wall it sits against the *exact* same coulour. Also paint the trim of the sofa to blend--it will effectively reduce it to a silhouette. Accent with bright white and black--and I would include some mod-ish accessories, like Knoll plastic parson's tables, or Philippe Starck's Ghost chairs in black (if budget allows).
Metallic gold accents (sparingly) would make it feel very luxe, and then just one (two at the most) big splashes of a very, VERY vibrant purple (think heliotrope).

I had a local glass and mirror company (Cadillac Glass & Mirror in Santa Monica) cut mirror for the front, used longer screws for the pulls, and painted the top and sides silver.

We use this for all our bathroom storage--hairdryer, brushes, it's the perfect size to stack rolls of t.p.--and if you roll instead of fold, works great for extra linens.

pinkpiggyboy, you're right, the lamp is from Target, but it is a double bass in the corner (nico's instrument), and the bookcase is from craig's list--but it's not the one from DWR (size is different).

saya* thanks for noticing the family gallery. The wall in real life is actually hot pink--I tried to match our bougainvillea that we see outside the kitchen windows. My mom and dad have both passed away (that's them in the top right corner) so old family photos are really important to me. I wanted to give them their own room.
