Could you give an estimate (in hours or days) of your total time spent on this? Even after reading through each step, I'm still unsure/amazed at how you managed to do all of this! A Homey Budget Wedding Meal for 120: The Wedding Dinner Homemade Weddings |

In addition to the finances and cleanliness issues, which I do agree are the most important, discussing how/when you will use shared spaces like the bathroom and kitchen. If you have to share a bathroom, and you both shower in the morning, how will you figure out who gets the bathroom when? Same with the kitchen: are you going to share meals, if not, is there space for both of you to work at the same time? Clear communication is important, but it's also necessary to be sure you're on the same page for open communication (and what that entails) when going in. As someone with a life threatening food allergy that can be triggered by being in the same room as the food being cooked, I'm very aware of allergies and working to accommodate them. When having people over, I always ask if they have allergies or food restrictions, and I work around those. I also let people know before I go to their home for dinner that I'm allergic. I don't expect to have special treatment, but most people don't want to send a friend to the hospital. My biggest request for parties--label your food. If I can see what it's main ingredients are, I'm much more likely to feel safe eating it. Dealing with Food Allergies as a Host |

My husband and I were very careful with our gift registry to only put things we needed/would use on it. We have a very tiny apartment, and while we won't always live there, we felt like there was no point in asking for things that would sit in a closet because we just don't have the space for them. We've used every single thing that was on our registry (and we've only been married 4 months). Lots of people gave us gift cards, checks and cash which were also quite welcome. It's tough to hold yourself to the "Do I really need this?" standard when there are so many things you want, but I'm glad we did. A Freewheeling Discussion Of Wedding Registries |

I love family/personal photos up in a home. I have many of my nephew, my siblings, my husband and me throughout our relationship, and a wonderful series of photos of me with my best friends every few years so we can track how gorgeous we are getting with age. I love when people visiting comment on them. It makes me feel like my house is a home and I'm surrounded by love. Displaying Personal Photos: Awesome or Awkward? |

I make America's Test Kitchen baguettes every week and eat them as my snack when I get home from work with some Nutella. That's what I had when I came home from work in France and it's just a very satisfying snack. We generally don't eat other breads in my house, but when we do, they're homemade. I lived in an apartment for 3 years that had only one outlet in the kitchen, across the room from the counters. And, it could only have one thing plugged in at a time or a fuse would blow. In the 3rd year, we plugged an extension cord into our stove outlet (easier to reach than fridge), and that helped immensely. We also kept our toaster in the living room, on top of a radiator. As for the bathroom, I just did my hair in the bedroom. Extension cords and creative thinking are your friends in this situation. Help! No Outlets in Kitchen or Bathroom Good Questions |

I'm with @Portlandrules As a newlywed, the 2 gifts that we received that were off registry were not hideous, but have no use in our home. We have a tiny apartment, so storing these items is not easy. If you're set on getting the couple a gift that is off-registry, consult with them first! Tell them you want to get them something that you don't see listed and ask if they need it. It will be appreciated! Warm it Up: Great Housewarming Gifts for Newlyweds |

This might sound crazy, but have you considered a potluck? A friend got married on a budget, and one of her bridesmaids created a Google spreadsheet of needs/wants and so many people pitched in to create a wonderful evening. She had about 200 guests and we all felt such a part of the celebration. There were dishes to meet dietary restriction needs, family recipes, and all kinds of fun foods. Don't forget that the contemporary craft scene also has pieces that will gain value as they age. The American Craft Council even has a tag at their annual shows for pieces under $100 to encourage young collectors to develop their love. I've met craft collectors who started small with artists they knew, and have helped careers grow and blossom. I go every year and am working on my own craft collection, slowly but surely. I drank pasteurized milk until I was 14 when my family started raising cattle and we started drinking raw milk. When I went to college at 20, I went back to drinking pasteurized. I never noticed a difference, never felt like I was getting any different nutrients. There are inherent risks in all our food handling and production. I do think that pasteurization kills good bacteria, as well as bad, but there are other products on the market that can fill those gaps. Is Raw Milk Worth It? Dan Barber Says Yes. The New Yorker |

I am often the DD in my group, so I abstain, and when asked if I want a drink, I explain with that answer. As I've gotten older, I've found a simple "no, thank you" suffices. I chalk the rude, probing questions up to lack of manners, but that doesn't mean I have to behave in the same way. No, I'm Not a Wine Drinker: 3 Social Tips from a Teetotaler |

One of my favorite pieces is a sketch a friend did of me while I was studying in college (I had no idea, so I look very natural). She gave it to me as a gift, and when I took it home, my mom pulled out a photo of her in the exact same position while she was studying in college. Having both of these works makes me happy, and it also shows how similar my mother and I are, when we're captured unawares. Fun or Faux Pas: Family Portraits at Home |

When I lived in NC, a friend ran a business called Once Upon A Clutter where she helped people organize their homes.
