my mom got me a tuperware containter specifically for microwaving soup. It has a handle and a top that you can open to put in the microwave. It steams everything inside. Great for rice and pasta too!

Mariage Freres has the best tea blends basically ever. Expensive, but totally worth it.

For cheaper, but consistently great loose tea Adagio is where it's at. What's real nice is that other tea drinkers rate the tea blends and the description Adagio provides is pretty spot on.

I LOVE Artisan Bread in 5 minutes book!

I like to toss ice cubes in a broiler pan when baking bread. I have a bit of trouble getting the water all in the pan and without releasing too much steam before I shut the door. Ice is easier to do both those things for me.

I don't have drawers in my kitchen, so I got these containers from IKEA and nailed them to the wall vertically (since I don't have enough wall space for the suspension rail either)

How is that a renovation? If I owned the building and my next tenants were sans cabinets in the kitchen I'd be a bit upset. Although, the decorative paper/textiles in the moulding is neat and a nice idea for my own apartment.

I just moved (yet again) so don't have too much random stuff unless you count the boxes in my closet that need to go to goodwill. None the less, I do have so miss-matching plastic containers!

West Elm's furniture scratches and isn't the best quality, yes. But it is quite cheap-in comparison to brand names. If anyone has problem with scratches on the wood furniture, just ask the store for a cover-up pen. It's what the store uses to keep their furniture on the floor looking good. Some of their textiles aren't very soft even if they are "250 thread count" and prices seem comprable to stores like ikea and target. The most fantastic product they have are their towels. They wash very well and are sooooo soft! I also like the basic collection of pillows and duvet inserts. As for solid wood v. engineered wood, their furniture acutually utilizes both. The legs of furniture are always solid wood while generally most of the rest of the construction is engineered. There is furniture that is constructed with more hard wood such as the narrow leg dresser set, you just need to ask when purchasing.
