Yes, the actual light may be a bit boring comparatively, but we do not know what the owners budget was, if I had all the money in the world my design choices would be different!

I wonder if you could use a Cricut machine, or some other kind of punch, with contact paper to make your own decals for this!?

It would be much more cost effective!

The after is nice, but for all I know, they simply took down the shower curtain!
If you look closely, you can tell that the floor tile has changed, but it is still small mosaic tiles so it requires close attention to notice it in those pictures.

Unless you are buying a piece for investment purposes, if you like the esthetic of painted furniture over wood then paint it!
If you are photoshop savvy, I like to do a mock paint job in photoshop before I paint things just to get a better idea of how it will look.

But I say, ignore the nay-sayers. They don't have to live with the piece!

I just did last night!
I painted my rental bathroom black. The entire house is painted the same super-shiny dirty-looking off-white color, and I just couldn't take it any more. There is tile wainscoting around the room, so the black is only on the upper half of the walls and the ceiling. It makes the tiles and the off-white moulding look cleaner and whiter.
No regrets here, and I'd rather forfeit my deposit than live with the ugly.

I agree...basically option 1 turned counter-clockwise so that the sofa is under the window, and the two chairs in the middle of the room.

1, 2 or 3? Furniture Layout for New Living Room Good Questions

For the kitchen, I would get a larger island that can double as an eating space- as a posed to two separate pieces of furniture.
As for the bedroom/living room situation. I see two options: one is to buy a murphy bed- there are some nice ones out there now, with book shelves and even sofas attached, but they can be pricey. The second option is to embrace the bed. Make it like a deep day bed that can be lounged on like a couch, and maybe move it under the window, length-wise.

I am a bit confused... where does it say this is supposed to be a teenagers bedroom?
If it is, the after does not read as one either. It's more up-scale beach resort than teen personality.
Just my two cents..

First let me just say, it looks like you've received a beautiful image!
The photo archivist in me cringes at the idea of displaying this negative, let alone in natural sunlight! However, if the emulsion is as bad as you say, and if it is not by a famous or even known photographer, or a revolutionary piece of photo history, I say go for it!

One option is to have the image printed. You could probably find a local photographer (or school with a photo lab) and have them make either a contact print or an enlargement for little or no cost. And then simply purchase an archival housing for the plate itself.

Or if you insist on displaying the plate, I recommend making - or having made- a unique frame that fits the plate snugly. I also recommend getting some archival mylar (clear plastic) and sandwiching the plate with it before framing. If you want the image to last any significant amount of time you need to keep it in a temperature controlled environment, and out of the sun. The ideal display would be a lightbox that you can turn on and off for viewing.

My father and I have the same dynamic, he only seems to care about getting the lowest price for things, regardless of how long it will last. While I prefer quality, and doing business with real people in person, even if that means paying a little more. Obviously, everyone wants to save a little money, but if it means I am going to have to replace whatever it is that much sooner, to me it is not worth it.

I am torn about this bookcase. The design/art savy part of me thinks it is gorgeous and dare I say brilliant. But the librarian/archivist part of me (and I do not mean metaphorical, I am a librarian/archivist) is dying - books should never be stored this way, ever, the spines will break in no time.

I say it never hurts to ask. Though Adrienne_cook brings up a good point in regards to what you might choose versus your landlord. I would go to the landlord after doing some research on what exactly you want in the appliances, maybe even with specific models or options in mind - but be reasonable. Or maybe the two of you can sit and discuss some price points that they are willing to split.

The other option is to simply help the appliances you have along in their demise. Then the landlord would have to replace them. :)
(I am not actually suggesting you do this!)

Aside from what everyone else had to say about the close-ups (which I agree with), I was a bit disappointed that the original stove and sink were not kept. From the looks of the before photos they appear to have been in good shape. And I think I would have tried to keep, or at least replicate the original cabinetry.

Just my two cents.
