Lovely house Joshua! My dad's family is Danish and he grew up in Racine. My grandfather worked as a carpenter on many of the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and homes in the area, including Wingspread.

For Christmas 1961 (?), we recieved a set of the exact same armchairs in a burnt orange color from them. Good memories!

I've passed this along to my dad!

Love the colors, design and clean look of this space. It has a wonderful, calm feeling to it. My only concern is the chairs don't look like they would be very comfortable when sitting all day. While office chairs might not be the most stylish of furniture, they do serve a purpose when it comes to back support etc.

We moved from the suburbs to an apartment building in NYC last fall and one of the best things about "communal" living is that there is a marble bench in the lobby where you can put things you want to get rid of and other apt dwellers can help themselves. It is an easy way to de-clutter and recycle! If your items haven't been picked up after 2 days you are responsible for getting rid of them but most of our "odds and bobs" have disappeared! We've also gotten a few useful items that we needed after the move and I even discovered a new author that is now a favorite after picking up a book there. Everyone wins!

Yes! We moved in to an apartment in the city after living in a lovely old house in the suburbs for many years and I decided that it was crazy to have a cleaning lady for 1000 square feet. By picking up our new smaller space every day, it really only takes a couple hours a week to really clean the place. And I love coming home to a house that is always welcoming and tidy!

When staying with friends in France this summer, we loved the "headboard" on our bed - a rod attached o the wall with two euro (Square) shams hanging from it. Apparently this is common in France as they directed us to Madura ( a chain that also has stores in the US) to buy the rod, shams, inserts and even the fabric straps to attach them to the rod. Very cool and doesn't take up any room! I've now recreated it in my own home.

Have never posted a comment here before but I have made thousands of meals in a kitchen that looks very much like the one above for my two kids and me, as well as family and friends. Just gave the kitchen an overhaul in order to sell the house and while it's nice to have new counters etc., I never thought that the old one was lacking in anything except buyer's appeal (nor were the delicious meals we made!) Bravo and bon appetit!
