For us, it is breakfast foods: he'll always eat eggs, scrambled or hardboiled (he won't eat the "smoke"/yolk), waffles, pancakes, baked oatmeal, porridge-style oatmeal either steel-cut or rolled, and of course, bacon. 7 Things My Toddlers Would (Almost) Always Eat |

My husband asked to have sweet potatoes for dinner and I'm so glad i found this recipe! It was delicious, easy, cheap, and quick to put together, so that makes it an all around winner that we will make again. I added a half a teaspoon of turmeric in with the garlic and a pinch of smoked paprika, curry powder, and a little less than a tablespoon of brown sugar in at the end with the ground ginger. I loved the lemon but wanted to balance the tartness with a bit of sweetness. I also peeled the chickpeas, which is a task my 3 yr old enjoyed helping with and improves their texture, although it is a bit time-consuming. Recipe: Braised Coconut Spinach & Chickpeas with Lemon |

Ashley at Under the Sycamore had a kitchen table made for her family that I have always admired. The top is poured concrete, like a concrete countertop on a table. Two vegetarian black bean soup alternatives that are very similar are the Brazilian black bean soup from the original Moosewood Cookbook, and Deb Perelman's black bean soup from Smitten Kitchen. Both are incredibly delicious, the Moosewood recipe uses orange juice for flavor and SK's uses chipotles and lime juice. You don't need the ham hock! Our favorite way to eat sweet potatoes is to pierce them a few times, rub them with a bit of coconut oil and salt, and wrap them in aluminum foil to roast until they are soft. More delicious than a baked potato! What Are Good Recipes for Using Up a Bunch of Sweet Potatoes? Good Questions |

My two "secrets" for making any soup taste great is to saute the onions with a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes, and to add 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice after it is done cooking. I'm a huge lemon fan and I always have them in the fridge. The Ingredient You Should Use More Often |

My first strategy is usually to boil an inch or so of water with a big squirt of dish soap for 10 minutes. This helps to lift off particles and gunk. Then I let it cool, and scrub away. After that, I'd do Barkeeper's Friend. Like others said, it is recommended by many stainless steel cookware manufacturers and it does not scratch! Make sure you wear gloves when you use it, it does weird things to your hands. How Do I Clean Stubborn Stains From My Stainless Steel Pan? Good Questions |

I love Envirosax. I'd found previous to getting some Envirosax bags that I could never remember to bring my reusable shopping bags to the store, but the Envirosax are so good and so much nicer than plastic bags that you don't want to forget! Our rice cooker broke a few months ago and we are hoping to replace it soon, but I feel your pain with cooking rice on the glass top electric, especially! I am going to try the two burner method next time. I also find it takes FOREVER to heat up oil for sauteing onions. I turn the burner on the pan with the oil in it, and then start chopping the onions. Five minutes later, it is finally warm enough to dump the onions in and hear the sizzle. I was going to suggest Hazelnut Brown Butter Cake, from the cookbook Sunday Suppers at Lucques (and found for free at Smitten Kitchen's website). It has a very small amount of flour, 1/3 of a cup, and people have made it gluten free by substituting rice flour or another gluten free flour for the all-purpose flour. The cookbook says that the author served it as her wedding cake! It is incredibly delicious. Ideas for a Gluten-Free Wedding Cake? Good Questions |

I'm sure you are going to get the Kiwis jumping all over you on this, but Pavlova is actually considered a New Zealand dessert, not an Australian dessert. :) I studied abroad in NZ and they are very proud of their pavlova there! My family's very favorite barley pilaf recipe, which comes from an old Reader's Digest cookbook my Mom had, is often requested and is my favorite barley recipe. I found the recipe online, I don't know why this website has it listed as "Asian cuisine" but it is the same one. It is delicious, kind of like a barley risotto. My mom omits the raisins but we like them. What Can I Make with Pearl Barley? Ingredient Questions |

A rotisserie chicken usually does us for three to four meals. The last one we bought provided a roast chicken meal, then soft tacos with shredded meat. The carcass and bones, plus water, went into the slow cooker on low overnight with celery, carrots, onion, and peppercorns, and the next morning we had chicken stock! We used that to make a black bean soup that had the rest of the shredded chicken in it as well. So delicious and economical! Our huge extended family enjoys doing a "christmas curry" celebration at the family reunion. Curries don't have to be spicy and there is a huge variety of flavors and ingredients in pan-Asian cuisine.
